An early 19th century English porcelain dessert service, pattern 447, nicely painted with sprays of naturalistic flowers including roses and pansies, reserved between relief-moulded and gilded borders, the service comprising an oval comport on stand, 11.5cm and 30cm wide; a pair of sauce tureens and covers on fixed stands, 15cm high; a pair of oval dishes, 26.5cm wide; a pair of square dishes, 21cm wide; and a shell-shaped dish, 23.2cm wide, together with a selection of further florally painted wares including: an unmarked Derby bowl, pattern 830, 18cm diameter; a dessert tureen, cover, stand and dessert dish, pattern 239; a square dish with ribbon handles, 24cm overall width and a H&R Daniel tea service comprising teapot and cover, twin-handled sucrier and cover and cream jug, pattern 5005, with dragon spout and raised shell feet (qty)Condition report: Pattern 447 comport - Crack to foot/base. One tureen with several firing cracks. One oval dish with two chips to rim and some scratches through the central flowers. One square dish with some heavy rubbing to gilding, surface scratches.Teapot on shell feet badly cracked, matching sucrier with star crack to base. Derby bowl with star crack.

Ziel war es dabei mit innovativen Mitteln an die lange Tradition Meissens, gestalterische Höhepunkte der europäischen Tafelkultur zu erschaffen, anzuknüpfen.Das Dekor von 1001 Nacht, auf dem von Ludwig Zepner geformten Service 'Großer Ausschnitt', ist ein ideales Beispiel für diesen Ansatz. Ähnlich wie die Chinoiserien Johann Gregorius Höroldts aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, sind die morgenländischen Motive aus der Vorstellungswelt einer romantisierenden europäischen Perspektive geboren. Die Handlungen auf dem Porzellan sind nicht in Kartuschen inszeniert, sondern die heitere, farbenfrohe und in luxuriösem Gold schwelgende Märchenwelt kann sich auf den geschwungenen Formen der Gefäße frei bewegen. Die Goldspitzenbordüre, die an den Rändern der Serviceteile entlangläuft, wirkt dabei wie ein Vorhang, durch den hindurch der Betrachter das Geschehen verfolgen kann.. The aim was to use innovative means to continue Meissen's long tradition of creating design highlights of European dining culture.The decor of 1001 nights, on the service 'Großer Ausschnitt' designed by Ludwig Zepner, is an ideal example of this approach. Similar to Johann Gregorius Höroldt's chinoiseries from the 18th century, the Oriental motifs are born from the imagination of a romanticizing European perspective. The actions on the porcelain are not staged in cartouches, but the cheerful, colourful and luxurious gold fairytale world can move freely on the curved forms of the vessels. Indian flowers between the cartouches on the jugs and on the bowl. The Cartouches with the finest of merchant navy and lively port scenes, each multi-figured with for example fishermen hauling in their nets, dockers at their break and negotiating merchants.
