Victorian four piece silver tea service, comprising teapot, coffee pot, cream jug and twin handled open sucrier, each of hexagonal bellied form, the cream jug and sucrier with gilded interiors, engraved with foliate detail and monogrammed initials to central circular panel, with scroll handles and upon four scroll pad feet, the teapot and coffee handles with ivory insulators, the coffee pot, cream jug and sucrier hallmarked Henry Holland, London 1866, the teapot hallmarked Henry Holland, London 1856, approximate total weight 86.24 ozt (2682.6 grams) This item has been registered for sale under Section 10 of the APHA Ivory ActCondition Report:General wear commensurate with age and use, predominantly in the form of surface scratches and nicks. Some deeper scratches to bodies of each. Small nick to teapot body and larger knock to coffee pot base. All ivory insulators with some cracks. Cream jug spout with small amount of pitting and small knock. Interiors with some staining and scratches, particularly to coffee and tea pots. Coffee pot lid, handle and teapot handle each part marked. Teapot lid hallmarked Walker & Hall, 1856. All hallmarks with small amount of wear but clear and legible. Sucrier with two large flat chips to rim of cover and with further chip to flange of cover, rim crack to the side of one handle travelling half way down the base. One cup with two long hair cracks to the rim. One with a crack across the lower handle terminal. One with a short crack to the rim near the upper handle terminal. One with slight flakes to the foot. One saucer with a broken section to the rim professionaly restored. Another with a star crack in the base. Two saucers with a large rim chip. One pedestal dish with firing crack to foot. Some typical minor enamel, gilt and glaze wear.Teapot 12.5cm high and the same handle to spout. Sucrier 16cm handle to handle 12cm high. Jugs 13.5cm high. Pedestal dishes 21cm diameter. Saucers 15cm diameter.

The gilding and colours are bright, no problems noted. In the Auctioneer’s opinion, the service has had hardly any use at all.

A Four-Piece George V Silver Tea-Service, by Atkin Brothers, Sheffield, 1917 in the George III style, each piece plain tapering and engraved with a crest, comprising a teapot; a hot-water jug, each with ebonised handle and finial; a cream-jug and a sugar-bowlthe hot-water jug 20.6cm high, 50oz 3dwt, 1,559gr (4)Each piece is fully marked on side. The teapot and hot-water jug each further part marked inside cover. There is some overall surface scratching and wear consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the engraving. There are some bruises, particularly noticeable to the hot-water jug. The hot-water jug is lacking the wood part of the finial. The finial on the teapot has a replaced spacer under the wood section.

The teapot and hot-water jug each further part marked on handle and either inside or on cover. There is some wear to the marks but in general they are legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the engraving. The base of the teapot is bruised so it leans slightly. The cream-jug rocks slightly when placed on a flat surface. There is some wear and loss to the plating on the tray.
A Five-Piece Russian Silver Tea and Coffee-Service, by Ivar Pragst, St Petersburg, 1829 and 1830, Assay Master Michael Karpinsky each piece with part-fluted lower body, the foliage and shell heightened gadrooned rim with basket-weave band below, comprising a hot-water jug; a teapot, each with ivory-insulated handle and ivory finial; a stand and lamp; a sugar-bowl and cover, with ivory finial; a cream-jug and a slop-bowlthe teapot 29cm wide, total gross weight 106oz, 3,296gr (5)With non-transferable standard ivory exemption declaration number 3R8QRHZD.Each piece marked underneath. Further marked on cover bezels and under lamp. The marks are generally clear. The maker's mark is perhaps overstriking the mark of another maker. There is some minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some minor cracking and discolouration to the ivory handles. The kettle is marked for 1829, the stand and the other pieces are all marked for 1830. Both the teapot and the hot-water jug are somewhat ill-fitting in the stand and are perhaps are not originally intended to go together.
A Four-Piece Edward VIII and George VI Silver Tea-Service, by Walker and Hall, Sheffield, 1936 and 1937 each piece in the Art Deco-style, tapering decagonal and on conforming foot, with zig-zag border, comprising a teapot; a hot-water jug, each with ebonised angular handle and stepped disk finial; a cream-jug and a sugar-bowlthe hot-water jug 18.5cm high, total gross weight 45oz 9dwt, 1,414gr (4)Each piece fully marked near handle. The teapot and hot-water jug each further part marked inside cover. The bases stamped with maker's name. The marks are generally clear. The hot-water jug is 1936 and the remaining pieces are 1937. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use as well as some minor dings. The cover on the teapot is very slightly bruised.
