Ceylon Volunteer Service Medal 1919, named to H. S. Nicholson. Believed to be Major H S Nicholson OBE. Whos memoirs were written in 1954 covering his career as a Tea Planter in Ceylon, served as a junior officer on the Quartermaster Generals Staff at GHQ BEF 1917-1918. And at 66 became Chief Postal Censor, Malaya (1940-42) the final days of the battle for Singapore, his evacuation in the KUALA and her sinking by the Japanese (13/2/42) his voyage by small boats on to Singkep and Sumatra and across the island to the Post of Padang (Feb - March 1942, his subsequent internment by the Japanese (April 1942 - August 1945). 19th century Dresden porcelain solitaire tea service CONDITION REPORT: Jug, good condition. Very slight wear to gilding on handle. Cup, appears good condition. Saucer, appears good condition. Sugar, very slight wear to gilding on knop of lid, lid appears ok. Bowl appears in good condition. Tray, appears to be in good condition, slight wear to gilding. Teapot, lid badly broken and re-glued, knop is damaged, two pieces present, tiny chip on underneath of spout, slight wear to gilding on handle.
Coalport 'Batwing' tea service, comprising of fourteen cups, twelve saucers, twelve side plates, cream jug, sugar bowl, two plates and a cake dish, (43) Condition report: four cups have short hairline cracks, three saucers and one large circular plate are chipped. The occasional piece including the cream jug have crazing. Some small amounts of wear to the gilding mainly on the side plates.
Herend tea / coffee service, decorated with puce flora, to include: lidded teapot, three jugs (one with added cover) two lidded preserve pots, butter dish and cover, two lidded sucriers, two cake stands, six side plates, six coffee cups and saucers, and six teacups and saucers, printed marks with dates circa 1940 to bases, (48) Condition report: One sucrier has losses to the petals, the other sucrier has a minor (under 1mm) nick to one petal. Two teacups and one coffee cup are broken and restuck.
