AN UNUSUAL FIRST PERIOD WORCESTER POLYCHROME TEACUP AND A MATCHING CHINESE SAUCER, finely enamelled and gilt with a Chinese figure on gilt buffalo in a landscape with flowers and a willow tree growing from a hollow rock, gilt geese on the opposite side of the river, in gilt and red line undulating ribbon border, the handle also gilt, saucer 12cm diam, c1770 The Worcester cup is likely to have been made as a replacement for a slightly earlier Chinese Export tea service. A Worcester replacement sugar bowl and Chinese tea bowl from a service are illustrated side by side, Spero (S) & J Sandon, Worcester Porcelain 1751-1790 The Zorensky Collection, Woodbridge 1996, plt 185. ++In fine condition

One or two of the other items with slight wear to the gilding on the rims but in generally excellent condition
