Original vintage exhibition poster advertising Black and White Garnet Colors and Emotions / Bianconero Granata Colori Ed Emozioni, exhibition about two football teams from Turin. by Armando Testa. Armando Testa (23 March 1917 - 20 March 1992) was an Italian graphic designer, cartoonist, animator and painter. Born in Turin, Testa worked as a typesetter until 20 years old. He was initiated to artistic career by abstract painter Ezio D'Errico, who was one of his professors at the Vigliardi-Paravia Printing School he attended. After winning a poster design contest in 1937, he started working in the advertising industry, and in 1946 abandoned his work as a printer and opened a graphic studio in his hometown. In 1956, he founded Studio Armando Testa along with his wife, Lidia, and associate Franco de Barberis, and their studio soon became one of Italy's largest agencies, partnering with Benton & Bowles in the United States and establishing several branches throughout Europe. A key role in Testa's success had television commercials, particularly the ones created for Carosello. In 1959 he created the official logo for 1960 Summer Olympics. Examine - Corrosion, Contamination or Deteriation- artwork features a man on a ladder working on a planes engine, while a large part falls through the corroded metal of the aeroplane and onto the floor. Excellent condition, minor creasing, fold.; 2. Insecurity of Attachment - artwork features a scared man panicking as he hangs off the edge of a cliff by a rope. Excellent condition, minor fold.; 3. Replace - Remove an item and fit a new or reconditioned item - artwork features a soldier fixing a car engine and throwing a car part into the face of another man. Very good condition, minor creasing, fold, small stain on left side.; 4. Inspect - Review the work by tradesman to see that it has been carried out satisfactorily - artwork features a man eating a potato from the plate of a surprised chef. Excellent condition, minor creasing, fold.; 5. Examine - Damage due to external sources - artwork features a man looking out of a broken window with glass on the floor next to a football. Examine - Discolouration due to overheating or leakage of fluids - Great artwork features a man with a burnt face covered in soot holding a match and a cigarette next to an exploded barrell of flammable liquid. Test - Ascertain that a component or system functions correctly by using the approprite test equipment - Great image features a man kicking a box of tools. * DAVID SHRIGLEY, VIBES offset lithograph on paper, signed, unnumbered edition of 250, published for The Big Issue 70cm x 50 cm Mounted, framed and under glass Note: David Shrigley attended Glasgow School of Art from 1988-91 where he studied environmental art. He works in many disciplines including drawing, photography, painting, sculpture, animation and music. The variety of projects he is involved with are multi faceted ranging from the video for Blur’s ‘Good Song’ to ‘Kingsley’ Shigley’s mascot for the Scottish football team Partick Thistle to ‘Really Good’ a sculpture of a bronze fist with upraised, out of proportion thumb which he created for the Fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square. Shrigley was created an O.B.E. in 2020 for services to the visual arts. Recent notable exhibitions include those in Glasgow, Germany and Sweden and he was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2013. His work is held in a number of important public collections including National Galleries of Scotland and Tate.
