Queen's Park Rangers v Coventry City Football League Division Three (South) match programme played at Highbury 1st March 1930 According to the programme notes QPR's match (issue 32) was the first Division Three game ever to be staged at Highbury. QPR were 'debarred' from entertaining Coventry City on their own pitch or at any ground within a six miles radius of their Shepherd's Bush home. Gillespie Road fell outside of this range and the Arsenal directors obliged the west London side.

Arnold Kirke-Smith's Oxford Football Association members' rules booklet from 1872, Arnold Kirke-Smith being England's inside-right in the world's first international football match v Scotland 30th November 1872, the rules booklet in the form of a folded card measuring 4 7/8 by 3 1/2in., the reverse addressed in ink to 'A Kirke Smith Esq., Univ. Coll.', printed with 8 rules agreed upon at a meeting of the club held 9th November 1871, listing Kirke -Smith as Club President together with the treasurer, secretary and the names of the 38 members; sold together with family papers comprising, (i) a sheet of paper inscribed in ink 'Kirke Smith, Barnes Hall, 1858', (ii) a Christmas card inscribed in ink 'To Father and Mother from Arthur Dec 17', (iii) a menu from the Cottenham Hunt meeting 6th March 1906 inscribed Mrs Kyrke [sic] Smith, (iv) a Cambridge University United Hunts Souper du Bal dated 16th February 1911; (vi) an undated envelope from the Vacuum Oil Company of Bombay addressed in typescript to A Kirke Smith Esq C/o Messrs Little & Co., Solicitors, Central Bank Building, Bombay; & (vi) a postcard date-stamped 27 Jun 25 from the Poona and Kirkee Hounds addressed in hand to Kirke Smith at the aforementioned Bombay address Arnold Kirke-Smith was born at the family home Barnes Hall at Ecclesfield near Sheffield on 23rd April 1850. He was educated at Cheltenham College before going on to Oxford University. Kirke-Smith was president and playing captain of the Oxford University football team and played in only the second F.A. Cup final of 1873, when the University team finished runners-up to The Wanderers. All but one of the Oxford Cup finalists are members listed in the present members' booklet. During his career he also represented the Sheffield FA and the original Sheffield Football Club. Most notably, Kirke-Smith also played in the world's first football international between England and Scotland on 30th November 1872, The knitted woollen England jersey worn by Kirke-Smith in that match was sold at auction at Christie's in 1998 for £21000. After leaving University, Kirke-Smith was ordained in 1875. Some of the family papers in this lot relate to his son Arthur who was born in 1878 and educated at Charterhouse and Trinity College, Cambridge. Arthur Kirke-Smith became a partner of Little & Co., Solicitors and Notaries Public in Bombay. The present lot offers a rare and historic opportunity to acquire memorabilia related to a footballer with links to the birth of international football and the infancy of the F.A. Cup competition.

An early Southern League medal from season 1896-97, in 15ct. gold by Croneen of New Brompton, the obverse inscribed SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP, 2ND DIVN., DARTFORD, 1897 This medal relates to only the third season of Southern League Football. Dartford FC won the 2nd Division title In 1896-97. The recipient's name was never engraved on the medal. In the football club's early years they fluctuated between the Southern, Kent and West Kent Leagues. They had been formed in 1888 by members of Dartford Working Men's Club.

The first F.A. Amateur Cup final of 1894-95: a silver-gilt runners-up medal awarded to C.O.S. Hatton of Casuals, inscribed THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION AMATEUR CUP, RUNNERS UP, in original Vaughton's fitted case inscribed THE AMATEUR CUP, 1894-5; sold with a photocopied match report (2) Casuals were defeated 2-1 by Old Carthusians in the first ever F.A. Amateur Cup final played at Richmond before 3500 spectators on 7th April 1894. Although on the losing side, contemporary reports pick out the full back Hatton as having an outstanding game. Casuals started the match with only 10 men after Lodge had missed his train. Kick-off was delayed for 20 minutes and Lodge finally took to the field of play after 15 minutes.

Adhemar Canavasi, Fausto Batignani and Juan Arremon were all members of the gold medal winning football team at the Amsterdam Olympics in 1928.

Roger Kenyon's 1968 F.A. Cup runners-up medal in presentation Everton F.C. display stand, the medal in 9ct. gold, inscribed THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION, CHALLENGE CUP, RUNNERS-UP, EVERTON F.C., R.N. KENYON; displayed in the original club-commissioned oak display stand faced with a silvered plaque engraved with the club name and crest and details of the Everton finalists, team management, directors and officials, 16cm., 6 1/4in. square Roger Kenyon was born in Blackpool 4th January 1949. The central defender made his first-team debut for Everton during season 1967-68. He was an unused substitute in the 1968 F.A. Cup final v West Bromwich Albion. Kenyon came to prominence at Goodison Park when replacing the injured Brian Labone during the championship run-in of 1969/70 with a series of assured displays that helped the Toffees clinch the title. When Labone's career was cut short by injury in 1971, Kenyon's place in the Everton first-team was cemented for years to come including club captaincy. After 254 League appearances, he left Goodison Park in February 1979 and finished his career at the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Neil Webb's Football League Division Three Championship medal with Portsmouth in season 1982-83, in 9ct. gold and enamel, the obverse inscribed FOOTBALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP, DIVISION 3, WINNERS, the reverse inscribed SEASON 1982-83, N WEBB, in original fitted case. Neil Webb won this medal during his first season at Portsmouth. Pompey finished the season with 91 points, five clear of their nearest rivals Cardiff City.

A fine and extensive collection of souvenirs from the British Empire Exhibition held at Wembley in 1924 and 1925, mostly metalware items in silver plate, brass, aluminium etc., including trays of various sizes, a Swan brand teapot, Lipton's souvenir tea caddies, fluted vases, mugs, mustard & salts, napkin rings, tea strainer, cutlery, hair tidy, match covers, ladies compact and vanity mirror, freestanding Wembley Lion emblems, miniature figures representing Empire countries, lapel button, brooch, tie pins, boxed set of opera glasses etc. The British Empire Exhibition was opened by King George V on 23rd April 1924. 56 of the 58 British colonies at the time participated in the event which cost £12million to stage and attracted 27 million visitors, by far the largest exhibition held anywhere in the world. The venue at Wembley in Middlesex was made famous by the building of the British Empire Exhibition Stadium, or Empire Stadium for short. This was immediately adopted by football, with the first F.A. Cup final being played there a year before the Exhibition opened. Wembley Stadium quickly established itself as the home of football.

The bronze medals were sold to the general public.

A very rare programme for the World Cup Group 4 match between Uruguay and Peru played at the Estadio Centenario 18th July 1930, 16 pages, team line-ups on centre pages, bound in modern cloth covered boards inscribed gilt CAMPEONATO MUNDIAL DE FOOTBALL, 1930 This very rare example of a programme produced for a specific match during the inaugural 1930 World Cup is almost certainly a result of the Uruguay v Peru match being held on centenary of the Constitution of Uruguay declared on 18th July 1830. The match was a central part of the nations celebrations and held in the newly-built Centenary Stadium in Montevideo.

Eusebio Tejera's sky blue Uruguay No.3 jersey from the 1950 World Cup final, short-sleeved; sold with a signed letter of authenticity from a Uruguayan notary additionally signed by Ghiggia, one of the last surviving members of the team; and 12 repro photographs featuring Tejera and the 1950 final (14) Tejera played for Nacional and won a total of 31 Uruguayan caps between 1945 and 1954. The highlight of his career was his participation in the 1950 World Cup final when Uruguay beat the hosts Brazil. In 1950 Uruguay won the World Cup for the second time in their history, having won the inaugural tournament on their home soil in 1930. For the 1950 hosts Brazil the defeated was a national disaster with the final becoming known as the 'Maracanazo.' One of the effects of the defeat was a change of kit for a change of fortune. The all white strip was abandoned for the yellow and blue which evolved into one of the great iconic sights of world football.

A FIFA outside broadcasters RCA (Radio Corporation of America) microphone, with a swivel mouth piece fitted with bakelite frame, inscription reads "FIFA Radio" on the front and "On Air" to the reverse, in a Perspex display case, 41cm., 16in. This lot comes with official documentation which reads. This Historic item was used from the early 1950's through to the mid 1960's to record important World Cup and various International tournaments in Europe and Latin America. Over the most important years FIFA shared common space with the Worlds most famous football sports network radio broadcasters. The microphone was gifted to The General Secretary of The Real Federation Espanola de Futbol from Comite Ejecutivo FIFA. The microphone had formed an important broadcast display at the AFA Museum in Buenos Aires following its donation from Spain's FEF Museum in 1968 signed Fernando Alta Villa, June 15th 1989, Buenos Aires.

A Derby China ashtray presented at Old Trafford during the 1966 World Cup, decorated wit the World Cup insignia, in original box with a F.A. compliments slip, and a Borough of Stretford card reading 'This memento was presented on the occasion of the World Cup matches, held on the ground at Manchester United Football Club Lt., at Old Trafford, Stretford, in July 1966, diameter 11.5cm., 4 1/2in.

A programme for the final of the football tournament at the Paris Olympic Games in 1924, Uruguay v Switzerland played at the Stade Olympique de Colombes 9th June, a combined issue also covering the bronze medal play-off between Sweden and Holland In the pre-World Cup era, the winners of the Olympic gold medal were also considered to be crowned World Champions. The great Uruguay team dominated world football at the period, winning gold in Paris and at Amsterdam in 1928, before lifting the Jules Rimet Trophy on home soil at the inaugural World Cup of 1930.
