NOTTINGHAM SPORT.  RARE PHOTOGRAPH OF TWO NOTTINGHAM FOREST FC PLAYERS ON BOARD SHIP, 1905 laid down on the original mount, 15.5 x 10.5cm, oak frame, two unframed photographs of directors and dignitaries at the inaugural match before the new County Road stand, 1923 and a bronzed metal and enamel football trophy, 1948Exhibited: (with many of the other sporting items in this Sale) Games People Play, Nottingham University Art Gallery, Portland Building.Nottingham Forest FC was one of the first British teams to visit South America.  In June and July 1905 they demonstrated their superiority on the field, one noticeable result being the 7-0 victory over Belgrano AC

FOOTBALL INTEREST.  A  BARGEWARE TEAPOT AND COVER, DATED 1902 sprigged with birds, baskets of flowers and rosettes, impressed on a banner in printer's type DENNIS ALLSOP NOTTS FOREST GOALKEEPER PORTLAND ARMS PEAR TREE DERBY 1902Derby born Dennis Allsop's playing career as Foret's goalkeeper lasted from the 1892 season to 1899.  He later played for Derby Junction FC.  In the 1901 Census he is listed as the publican of the Portland Arms Hotel, where he lived with his wife Mary, young son and daughter and Mrs Allsop's sister Old filled chip on tip of spout. On the cover a chip under the rim and the teapot shaped finial with old repair to spout. No significant damage and no recent restortion
