With hand written letter of provenance signed by the vendor, who worked for the printing firm McCorquodale & Co Ltd in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, from 1963 onwards, during which time he was involved in the production of the programmes for the 1966 World Cup that were required in the North West. The vendor and a work colleague and good friend successfully applied for tickets and attended the 7 group C matches plus semi final and final and acquired all the items present in the lot himself in person. A wonderful authentic collection of World Cup 1966 memorabilia and ephemeraNB this lot also includes an official World Cup 1966 tie licenced by the F.A., by "favourite", embroidered with Jules Rimet trophy logos

A letter written to a young supporter by Brian Clough in 1955 on Middlesborough Football and Athletic Club headed paper along with another hand written letter with Clough's home address detailed at the top to the same fan along with a signed picture of himself in pen taken from a periodical of the time and a headed sheet with all of the Boro facsimile  team autographs featured. All documents have been removed from a scrap book and show the original cellotape used to fix them in place and have, at some point, been folded. The young fan's father had written to Brian Clough requesting a signed picture for his disabled son, and Clough had clearly gone over and above to make sure he had just what he asked for, but with the addition of the whole team as well as two personal letters that would have meant so much at the time.

A selection of football sticker books from the 1960s and 1970s including World Soccer Stars Mexico 1970, Soccer Stars in Action 1969-70, The Wonderful World of Soccer Stars 1968-69, Soccer with The Stars and a copy of the Evening News from April 28th 1973 covering a main feature on Bobby Charlton's last game for Manchester United against Chelsea. All three sticker books are complete with the Soccer with the Stars book having signatures on the front title page and all items show signs of age related wear and the newspaper has been folded.   It is hard to find such complete sticker books from this period.
