McGrory made his debut for the Bhoys in 1923 but truly made a name for himself at the club when he earned Celtic Scottish Cup victory in 1925, with a last minute goal to beat Dundee 2-1. On retirement in 1937, McGrory had amassed an impressive 472 goals in 445 league & Scottish Cup appearances. McGrory returned to Parkhead in 1945, this time as manager, a position he would retain for almost twenty years. During this time the club achieved honours including Coronation Cup victory in 1953, the Scottish League & Cup double in 1953-54 and the classic League Cup win in 1957.

ROBERT BURNS GOLD MEDAL, AWARDED TO ALEX JACKSON IN 1926, the obverse depicting Robert Burns in relief and inscribed '1759 1796', the reverse inscribed 'Robert Burns Statue Newcastle upon Tyne, Football Match Scots v Anglo-Scots St. James Park 28th April 1926. Won by A. Jackson.', 42mm high including bale, 42mm high including bale, maker NG Co, in nine carat gold, 19.7g Note: Alex Jackson (1905-1946) was a Scottish footballer who played for Huddersfield and Chelsea amongst other sides, though was perhaps best known for his performance as part of the Scottish national team. Jackson was one of the ‘Wembley Wizards’, and in fact, scored a hat-trick to assist Scotland in their famous 5-1 win over England at Wembley in 1928. This attractive medal was awarded to Jackson for his participation in the Robert Burns Statue fund trophy football match of April 1926. This fundraising match took place annually at St James’ Park in Newcastle from 1925 and 1928, with the original aim of erecting a Burns statue in Newcastle. The money raised was eventually donated to various causes including the Princess Mary maternity hospital.

Aberdeen were champions during the 1983-84 season, this being the first of two consecutive titles, and second of three under manager Alex Ferguson.

SOUTH AFRICAN TOUR 1927 MEDAL, the obverse withspringbok in high relief, inscribed 'South African Football Association', the reverse with figure of a footballer in relief, inscribed 'Man. Director Aberdeen F.C. S.A. Tour 1927' and 'Wm. Phillip', 36mm high, maker RMP, marked 375, 17.6g Note: In 1927 Aberdeen became the first Scottish club to visit South Africa, playing a total of fourteen matches. The tour wasn't the first time the club had ventured into the great unknown, playing a number of fixtures in Eastern Europe in 1911. The trip proved a great success with the team winning eight of their games and losing four.

Craig', 36mm high including bale, maker V&S, in nine carat gold, 26.9g Note: Thomas 'Tully' Craig (1895-1963) was a Scottish footballer who is best known for his time with Rangers F.C. Having originally signed for Celtic in 1919, Craig joined the light blues in 1923. Craig made 234 appearances for the club over the next twelve years, won eight Scotland caps from 1927-30 and had later managerial stints with Falkirk and Linfield.

This period proved prosperous for the club, who went on to win the Charity Shield in 1908 and subsequently the FA Cup in 1909.
