STANLEY MATTHEWS Very rare piece of Memorabilia for Sir Stanley Matthews, a certified copy of his ''Certificate of Birth'' Stanley was born in Stoke-on-Trent (Hanley) on 1st February 1915 and is the only player to have been knighted whilst still playing football as well as been the first winner of both the European Footballer of the Year and FWA's Footballer of the Year. Matthews played top level football until he was 50 years of age and is the oldest ever player to represent England at 42 years & 104 days. The newspaper featuring the stars of the World Cup finals de Silva, Meazza and Da Guia and Italy who won the tournament for the 2nd time in succession. The centre pages have more articles relating to the World Cup and the back page has an article about Brazil star Leonidas "The Black Diamond". Very slight wear but good condition for the age.
