The items were given to the family by Johnny who played 56 times for England being captain on 22 occasions. Johnny played for England between 1954 and the World Cup 1962 when he made his last appearance. His last cap came at the age of 27 as shortly after the 1962 World Cup he was involved in a serious car crash in Blackpool, suffered serious leg injuries and was never picked by England again as Alf Ramsey took over as England manager shortly after the accident . Johnny Haynes also played 658 games for Fulham between 1952/3 and 1969/70 and was also famous for being the first English player to be paid £100 per week after the end of the maximum wage agreement. He scored 158 goals for Fulham and 18 goals for England from his inside forward position. Johnny also made a number of appearances for the Football League, England Under 23 and England B. After retiring from Fulham in 1970, Johnny went to South Africa and played for a number of clubs in the Durban area , returning to live in Britain (Scotland) in 1985 .
