WALTER PAYTON (1954 – 1999) American professional football player, a running back for the Chicago Bears regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time. A nine-time Pro Bowl selectee, Payton was a prolific rusher, once holding records for career rushing yards, touchdowns, carries, yards from scrimmage, all-purpose yards, and many other categories. S.P., 8 x 10 in. color, a pose in uniform boldly signed in blue marker adding his jersey number. Fine.

Nobby Stiles signed Adidas black football boot. Norbert Peter Stiles MBE (18 May 1942 – 30 October 2020) was an English footballer and manager. He played for England for five years, winning 28 caps and scoring one goal. He played every minute of England's victorious 1966 FIFA World Cup campaign. In the semi-final of that tournament against Portugal, he was given the job of marking the prolific Eusebio. His tough performance resulted in Eusebio being practically nullified for the entire game. Stiles also played in the final, which England won 4–2 against West Germany. His post-match dance on the Wembley pitch, holding the World Cup trophy in one hand and his false teeth in the other, was widely broadcast. Good condition. Four: Private W. McPherson, Seaforth Highlanders, who was killed in action in Mesopotamia on 21 April 1917 India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, North West Frontier 1908 (6101 Pte. W. McPherson. 1st. Bn. Sea. Highrs:); 1914 Star, with clasp (6101 Pte. W. Mc.Pherson. 2/Sea: Highrs.); British War and Victory Medals (6101. Pte. W. Macpherson [sic]. Seaforth.); Memorial Plaque (William McPherson) lacquered, traces of verdigris to plaque with scratches to reverse, generally good very fine (5) £300-£400 --- William McPherson attested for the Seaforth Highlanders and served with the 1st Battalion in India on the North West Frontier, and with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 23 August 1914. Transferring back to the 1st Battalion, he saw further service with them in Mesopotamia, and was killed in action on 21 April 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq. Sold with two Regimental silver sporting medals, the first engraved ‘Cricket Shield Winners “G” Company 1st. Seaforth Hrs. Pte. Mc.Pherson W.’; the second engraved ‘Winner, Murree Brewery Football Cup 1906, Pte. W. Mc.Pherson 1st. Sea. Highrs.’, the latter with top ‘Captain’ gold riband bar.

Great War Medal Trio 1st Football Battalion Middlesex Regiment, Who Was Killed in Action on the Attack on Guillemont During the Battle of the Somme in August 1916, 1914-15 Star medal “F-603 PTE. V.A. TAPPING MIDDX. R.”, British War and Victory medal,” F-603 PTE. V.A. TAPPING MIDDX’ R”. Lot comes with certified copies of birth and death certificates and additional copied research. Small correction to letters TAP on B.W.M., a correction is noted on the medal index card. 18 year old Victor Albert Tapping gave his occupation as a labourer when he attested for the 17th Battalion Middlesex Regiment (1st Football) on 9th February 1915, he was 1 of the 7 children of James and Elizabeth Tapping of Humbolt Road, Hammersmith, London. Served in France from 17th November 1915 and was killed in action on 8th August 1916 when the Battalion attacked Guillemont and suffered heavy losses at ZZ trench and Machine Gun House with 29 men killed, 9 died of wounds, 115 wounded and 18 missing. Victor Tapping is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
