1907 Football Themed Pottery Plate by S.J Kepple of Bristol, featuring club records of the first division - Newcastle Champions, and F.A Cup winners Sheffield Wednesday to centre, 26.5cm wide (chips under the rim).Crazing, twelve chips under rim, the largest 1.3 x 0.4cm - none of these are visible from the top of the plate, 2.5cm old light crack - rings ok, no repairs.

Attributed WW1 Canadian Garrison Artillery 1902 Pattern Tunic, fine example of a Canadian 1902 pattern service dress tunic with pressed leather football pattern buttons, medal ribbons for WW1 service above the breast pocket, brass flaming grenade collar badges, brass CANADA nationality shoulder titles and brass ‘C.G.A’ titles. Rank chevron and overseas service chevrons. Single bullion wound stripe to the lower sleeve. Interior with partially white lining and inked with the owners details ‘ 346826 Bdr D. D. Trotter 5th C.G.A’. Generally very good overall condition.

Awarded to Tom Finney, Argentina v England International Friendly, Buenos Aires, 17 May 1953, blue velvet cap with silver tassel and trimQTY: (1)NOTE:Sir Tom Finney (1922-2014), won 76 England caps during his international career, his first cap was England v Northern Ireland in 1946 and his final cap was against the USSR in 1958. He was rightly regarded as one of England's greatest players.The friendly against Argentina was suspended after 23 minutes due to torrential rain, the pitch became waterlogged and the match was abandoned at 0-0 after 36 minutes.Previously sold at Mullock Jones, 21 June 2017, lot 805.

Awarded to Nat Lofthouse, Italy v England Continental Tour match, Firenze, 18 May 1952, blue velvet cap with silver tassel and trimQTY: (1)NOTE:Nathaniel Lofthouse (1925-2011), the 'Lion of Vienna', won 33 caps for England, making his debut against Yugoslavia in 1950, his last cap was against Wales in 1958. He earned his nickname after scoring his second goal for England against Austria in Vienna in 1952, when he endured an elbow in the face, a tackle from behind but still scored before being knocked out after colliding with the goalkeeper.The match against Italy ended in a 1-1 draw. Nat Lofthouse gave the cap to referee Neil Midgley as a thank you for officiating at his Testimonial match.Previously sold at Sportingold Auctioneers, 23/10/2015, lot 404.
* Colditz Letter. Autograph Letter Signed from Charles Edward Stuart ‘Lucky’ Lockett, (written from Colditz Castle), 14 August 1943, to his wife, written in pencil in a small but very neat hand on a pre-printed POW form and signed ‘Charles’, giving a detailed insight into life at Colditz, he writes that he has sent his wife some photographs (not present) but describes their content: ‘...the footballers are a mixed bunch. The people who I discuss in my letters are front row right to left Allen our orderly, Roger Heap who eats with us, Peter Dollar who lives with Bader. Near the back with pipe Douglas Bader... I haven’t been down to the football field for a hell of a time due to stoppages of privileges or some other reason. The lack of games playing facilities in what is to be an all British camp is a disgrace... the French men get parcels from France which supplement their Red X parcels and take infinite trouble over their cooking. The result is quite amazing. A new Scotch doctor Capt Dickie has arrived and is messing with us he is as far as first impressions go an excellent fellow. I’ve seen quite a lot of him ‘cos I’ve had a couple of boils ... he lanced one with a razor blade 2 days ago...’, 1 page (26 lines) written closely on all three internal letter panels, with additional hurried pencil notes to exterior, written next to his sender details including POW number 409, and the address panel, stamped with both the German and British censor marks, 10 x 14.5 cm (folded)QTY: (1)NOTE:Squadron Leader ‘Lucky’ Lockett (1910-1966) was shot down over Sedan and taken prisoner on 14 May 1940, the rest of his crew having died. Following several escape attempts he ended up at Colditz in 1941, where among his fellow prisoners was Douglas Bader. Lockett himself is credited with having been on the team which made the legendary ‘Colditz Cock’, the glider which was to have been launched from the roof of the castle in an escape attempt. The glider was nearing completion when the American Army liberated the prisoners on 16 April 1945.

Football Empire Cup 1938 Celtic player's multiple signed display. Two vintage Valentine's postcards one of Stadium 1938 one signed on back by Matt Lynch, Malcolm MacDonald, John Morrisson, Joe Carruth, Jimmy Delaney who all played in the match. Celtic defeated Everton 1-0 in the final, on 10 June 1938, with a goal from Johnny Crum in extra-time. The final was watched by a crowd of over 82, 000 at Ibrox Park. Good condition. Tottenham 1967 15 team squad Spurs players signed cover for match v Celtic, with 5/8/67 Glasgow match day postmark. Autographs include Pat Jennings, Cyril Knowles, Mike England, Philip Beal, Alan Mullery, Joe Kinnear, Clayton, Jones, Robinson. A six-goal thriller that either side could have won but at the end both sides and the crowd were happy with a draw. Neither reputation were really enhanced but neither were they damaged - honours even. In May 1967 Tottenham defeated Chelsea in the FA Cup Final at Wembley. The same month Glasgow Celtic defeated Inter Milan in the Final of the European Cup in Lisbon to become the first British team to win the trophy. This high-profile pre-season Challenge Match at Hampden Park to mark the Centenary of Queen's Park Football Club attracted 91, 708 spectators and was played on this day, 5th August 1967. Nils Liedhom Sweden A C Milan football legends signed 1958 World Cup cover display. Il Barone (The Baron), as he is affectionately known in Italy, was renowned for being part of the Swedish Gre-No-Li trio of strikers along with Gunnar Gren and Gunnar Nordahl at A.C. Milan and the Sweden national team, with which he achieved notable success throughout his career. Liedholm also won the Latin Cup in 1951 and 1956 and was captain of Milan in the 1958 European Cup Final against Real Madrid, losing 3-2 (after extra time). It is said that Real Madrid great Alfredo Di Stefano who, felt despite victory knew it was a match Milan could have won. Having helped Sweden win the gold medal in the 1948 Olympic tournament, Liedholm was the captain of the Sweden national team at the 1958 World Cup, celebrated in his home country. Aged almost 36, he helped Sweden to reach the World Cup final, where the team lost out to a Brazil side that included Didi and 17-year-old Pelé. Liedholm scored the opening goal of the final, which makes him the oldest player to score in a World Cup Final; however, Brazil came back and won the match 5-2. Good condition. Michel Platini football legend signed on two covers comm the Liverpool v Juventus match covers for the Heysel Stadium Disaster. Both with 29/5/85 match day postmarks. It was a crowd disaster that occurred on 29 May 1985 when mostly Juventus fans escaping from a breach by Liverpool fans were pressed against a collapsing wall in the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, before the start of the 1985 European Cup Final between the Italian and English clubs.
