EARLY 20TH CENTURY BRUNSTANE RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB CAP in deep blue velvet with gold stitched club name, the date 1903-1904 also stitched to the peak of the cap and the date 1904-1905 stitched to the rim of the hat, with gold tassel, the interior label of the cap with handwritten name of the player 'J.H. Glover', 2 3/4, retailed by J.C. Stewart, 106 South Bridge, Edinbugh', also together with printed archival newspaper information, specifically the Evening News from 1904, related to Glover and the book The Scottish Rugby Union by AMC Thorburn Note: The club was admitted to the SRU in the 1900-01 season and may have only lasted for a few years. Provenance: The vendor of this lot inherited this cap from his maternal grandfather, John H. Glover
FOOTBALL INTEREST: SCOTLAND INTERNATIONAL NO 6 JERSEY SIGNED BY JIM BAXTER said to have been worn by Jim Baxter for Scotland v England 1961-62 Provenance: Previously offered at Christie's, Glasgow, 1992 This jersey was worn by Scottish football legend, Jim Baxter, in Scotland's 2-0 win over England at Hampden in 1962. It has been on display at the Scottish Football Museum since 2012, is considered to be one of the rarest pieces of Scottish football memorabilia to come to auction in recent years. Coming a year on from Scotland's 9-3 thrashing at the hands of the Auld Enemy at Wembley, the 1962 game was Baxter's first match against England. The game was played in front of 132,000 spectators and Baxter put in a brilliant display during the 2-0 victory. The jersey is being put up for sale by a lifelong Scotland fan who bought the item in 1992 and had it signed by Baxter in 1993. The importance of the top as a piece of footballing memorabilia was underlined when it was displayed at the Scottish Football Museum in 2012 and then included as one of the star attractions in the 'More than a Game' exhibition at Kelvingrove Art Gallery in 2013.

1907/8 ENGLAND TRIALS FOOTBALL CAP. The 1907-08 England FA International trails cap of Dick Holden, Manchester United right back 1905-13. Injury meant he did not earn a full cap for England & he did not return to football after WWI. Also his sports scrapbook which includes his press cuttings & some Manchester United training photographs plus a newspaper vendors poster of the period. Provenance: By descent through the family to Dick Holden's grand-daughter.

England v Scotland International souvenir book for the match played at Old Trafford on April 17th 1926 which includes a history of Manchester United. This copy belonged to Dick Holden, Manchester United right-back 1905-13 & includes a profile of him. Provenance: By descent through the family to Dick Holden's grand-daughter. CONDITION REPORTS: Condition very good, both pages & cover. Some spoting & corner creases to cover. Rusting to staples but binding sound.

A good clear ink signature of Winston Churchill on the back of an irregularly-cut Barclays Bank form, signed W. Churchill, together with a selection of autograph books containing mostly sporting signatures from the late 1950s and 1960s, including various touring cricket teams (Australia `61, Pakistan `62, West Indies `63). Also, county cricket teams including Glamorgan `59. One book has full signatures from football teams in the 1922-3 season, including Cardiff City, Bolton Wanderers, West Ham, Everton, Liverpool, Wolves, Burnley, Spurs and Newcastle. Also included, a clear Biro signature of Jimmy Wilde, dated 1959.
Football legends signed Michael Parkinson book. Hardback book of Sporting Lives by Michael Parkinson. A fascinating book in which Parkie talks about sporting legends a couple of whom have autographed inside this book: Bob Paisley, George Best, Rodney Marsh, Emlyn Hughes, as well as Michael Parkinson himself. Also included is a Waterstones bookmark signed by George Best. Good condition.
