1908 CHARITY SHIELD - MAN UTD Eight page Chelsea programme issued to cover the 1908 Charity Shield , Manchester United v Queens Park Rangers at Chelsea, 29/8/1908. This was the first ever year that the Charity Shield was held and it took place between the Winners of the Football League (Manchester United) and the winners of the Southern League (QPR). The first match, also at Chelsea finished in a 1-1 draw , held on 27/4/1908. After much debate , it was decided to replay the match and United won the replay 4-0. This programme is for the replay and also covers Chelsea v Preston the following Tuesday 1/9/1908. Eight page issue , not ex bound volume but an original issue , in good condition . There are a few marks but no writing and the marks are insignificant. This programme is especially significant as it is for the first game in which the Charity Shield was won and it is a scarce programme. Generally good

ASTON VILLA BOUND VOLUMES Collection of twelve Aston Villa bound volumes of programmes covering seasons, 1913-14, 1924-25, 25-6 and 1928-29 to 1936-37 inclusive. Twelve volumes, all volumes with exception of 1913-14 have a claret spine and light blue cloth front and back with gilt inscription on the spine denoting the season. The 1913-14 volume has a claret spine with gilt inscription and dark blue cloth front and back. Covers are not included in any of the programmes in the volumes but First team games, Reserves and other games at Villa Park are included. 1913-14 has over 700 pages and includes portrait gallery photographs and also includes Cup 2nd replay Man City v Shef Utd , 24-25 includes Rugby Union, North Midlands v All Blacks, 28-29 includes Football League v Scottish League, 30-31 includes Cup 2nd replay West Brom v Charlton, 31-32 includes Charity Shield, West Brom v Arsenal and Cup Semi-Final Arsenal v Man City, 34-35 includes Burnley v Shef Wed Cup Semi-Final. Most volumes include end of season annual reports. Some marks to some pages but most are good and cloth bindings are very good. Generally good

Mainly 1980s and 1990s, some are signed. All are from the Neil Midgley collection. BERT WILLIAMS - WOLVES Magnificent solid silver tray presented to Bert Williams on his retirement, 25th April 1957. Three of these silver gallery trays were acquired and one was presented to each Wolves player who was retiring at the end of the 56-57 season, Bert Williams, Bill Shorthouse and Roy Swinbourne. This tray is hallmarked 1924 and was made by Charles Stuart Harris of London. At current silver prices, scrap alone value is in the region of £1,000. The tray has an inscription reading "Presented to Bert Williams by those to whom you have given so much pleasure during your distinguished football career, April 25th 1957". Bert made 420 appearances for Wolves after his transfer from Walsall in 1945 and was capped 30 times by England. Generally good
