Meredith won each domestic trophy in the English Football League throughout his career. ‘Last Will & Test Amen-t’. Australian tour of England 1964. Impressive original pen and ink caricature/ cartoon newspaper artwork for The Age, Australian newspaper by artist Samuel Wells. The cartoon features the build up to the 5th Test match at the Oval. Players featured in the artwork include Ken Barrington, ‘Barrington has been keeping his hand in at county cricket setting club roofs ablaze with his sixes’, Colin Cowdrey, ‘Cowdrey is busy sowing centuries around the Counties- should be sowing ‘em at Oval next Thursday ’. Cricket to half of the artwork and horse racing and Aussie Rules Football to the other half. The cartoon, signed by Wells and dated 10th August 1964, measures 21”x14.5”. Excellent image. G

Original large pen and ink, highlighted with colour, caricature/ cartoon artwork showing four boys playing cricket in the park, a further game of football is being played in the background. to centre front a boy wearing a cap with a white rose, Yorkshire scarf and holding a newspaper with banner headline ‘Yorkshire Again!’ is merrily whistling ‘On Ilkla Moor Baht’at’. The caption, to lower border reads ‘The Swankpot!. Just because e’s got an Auntie who lives in Bradford....’. Excellent image. Drawn on artists card and signed by artist Lee, to lower border. Dated to verso ‘29th August 1946’. The artwork, produced for the London Evening News, measures 10.5”x15” Some staining to, mainly, the right hand border of artwork otherwise in good condition Joseph Lee worked for Strand Magazine and Pall Mall Gazette before joining the Sunday Express. From 1934 to 1966 Lee worked for the London Evening News

*Tom Whittaker. Arsenal Manager 1947-1956. Arsenal contracts. Original typewritten three year contract between Arsenal Football Club and Whittaker, dated 1953 and signed by two Arsenal Directors G. Bracewell Smith and Denis Hill-Wood and by Whittaker and dated 12th October 1950. Sold with an original extension contract for an additional five years as Manager and an original lease agreement on his house which Arsenal owned, both signed by Whittaker and the Directors and dated 27th November 1952. Folds, good condition Whittaker never saw his full contract out, he died of a heart attack at the University College Hospital, London in 1956
