ENGLAND FOOTBALL INTEREST - a 1908 England Football Cap worn by George Wall (1885 - 1962), and an original photograph of George Wall signed in ink with date October 12th 1911. George Wall played for Barnsley 1903 - 1906, then transferred to Manchester United from 1906 - 1915 helping them win the 1908 and 1911 League titles and 1909 FA Cup, scoring 100 goals in 319 appearances. He then served in the First World War in the Black Watch Regiment and then after the War was sold to Oldham Athletic for £200, then to Hamilton Academical and later Rochdale, retiring in 1927Velvet cap is very faded with several dirt marks and what appear to be pen marks but no fabric tears, embroidery is in tact, lining is good with G Wall written in ink inside the lining, the photograph is in good condition but the cardboard surround is very torn and creased and foxed, damage to the surround doesn't touch the photograph, ink signature is clear

Field Marshal Montgomery: a silver freedom casketJames Dixon & Sons, Sheffield 1949 Rectangular, with applied enamel plaques of Bolton buildings, Montgomery's coat-of-arms, surmounted by the arms of Bolton, engraved with a presentation inscription and five local regiments, on an ebonised wood plinth, contained in a box painted 'Bolton Lads Club', also with original illuminated freedom scroll, length of casket 32cm, weight total (excluding plinth) 70.5oz.Footnotes:On 5th November 1949 Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, visited Bolton to receive the freedom of the city. As well as the presentation ceremony itself he also attended a Bolton Wanderers' football match and visited Bolton Lads' Club.
