SEAN RICE [1931-97]. Running Figure - Footballer, c. 1968. bronze; unique; signed. 17 cm high overall [bronze 14 cm high]. Provenance: Artist's estate; Private collection, UK. Rice's studio overlooked Everton Football Club and we understand he produced football trophies for them, but this has not been confirmed. Rice was an interesting sculptor who worked mainly in welded metal - bronze, brass and steel - his had a foundry at his Liverpool studio, so cast most of his work himself. His main gallery was Alwin Gallery, just off Bond Street, London and they sold his sculpture very well, mainly to collectors from the US. [good condition - some variations in the patina in places - the figure is a bit loose on the wood base]. Buyers premium of 20% + VAT is payable.
