THE FOOTBALL MEDALS OF CHRISTOPHER WHILDE, MANSFIELD TOWN FC, comprising four silver, one enamelled, Midlands Soccer League and local competitions 1924-28, two gold and enamel, Derbyshire Senior League Cup Winners and Champion's Medals 1930 and one other gold, uninscribed, by Vaughton & Sons and others, all Birmingham, various dates, sold with a contemporary photograph of the team including Whilde (7) Provenance: The player; thence by descent to the present vendor. Christopher Whilde (1911-2005) played for Mansfield Town FC from 1929-1931, scoring four goals in twelve senior appearances as an outside right. He turned professional in 1929. In 1931, when Mansfield Town FC entered the Football League, Whilde left for the better wages to be earned at a local factory. ++In good condition, the sepia photographic postcard with light handling marks, in modern frame.
