FIRST GAME - SOUTH SHIELDS Fulham home programme v South Shields, 30/8/1919, four page issue but cover is not missing as this season all Fulham programmes were without official covers. This is a historic issue as not only is it the first Fulham programme after the First World War but it is also the first ever League game played by South Shields as a Football League Club. South Shields replaced Glossop in Division 2 and remained members of the Football League until the end of 1929-30 when they resigned due to financial problems. A new team, based South of the Tyne were formed , Gateshead, and they replaced South Shields ( North of the Tyne) in Division 3 North in 1930-31. This programme is in good condition and has a pencil score, (Fulham won 1-0). Very slight fold. Generally good

CARDIFF RUGBY LEAGUE 1951 Cardiff home programme v Widnes, 22/8/51, at Penarth Road Stadium, first home game for Cardiff Rugby League Club in their only season in the Rugby League. A crowd of 2,500 saw Cardiff lose the game 27-10 and in this season Cardiff finished 30th of the 31 Clubs with a record of 5 wins and 31 defeats. As a result they were wound up at the end of the season. Previously Cardiff had been members of the Welsh Rugby League which was formed in 1949.Other founder members of the Welsh Rugby League were Amman Valley, Llanelli, Aberavon, Bridgend, Ystradgynlais, Neath and Pontarddulais. Cardiff were champions in 49/50, and Llanelli in 50/51 after which Cardiff were elected to the Rugby Football League. The Welsh Rugby League also folded at the end of the 51-2 season as Union was too strong for League to take a foothold and it was 1981 before Cardiff Blue Dragons were formed to play at Ninian Park. This programme v Widnes is a four page issue with neat score, scorers, attendance, very slight fold. Good
