Ahmad Shah Qajar with his trophy, commemorative print circulated in Europe ahead of the Shah's visit to Paris in 1922 [Germany, probably 1921-22] single photographic print of the Shah with his trophy leopard, mounted to card bearing printed coat of arms and hand-coloured “Frankreich” (France), in modern card mount, 190 by 210 mm.; framed and glazed The boy-king Ahmad Shah Qajar was the last Qajar Shah to rule Iran. He was overthrown less than 5 years after this photograph was taken by Reza Khan, then Minister of Defence, who crowned himself Shah and founded the Pahlavi Dynasty. This print was probably commissioned by the Qajar ministers themselves for circulation around Europe ahead of the Shah's visit to Paris in 1922.

An 1820 album with connections to W.J. Redfern the radiography pioneer, watermarked 1820, containing written entries, high quality pencil drawings and watercolours, most dated in the 1820s. The album was passed down to the Redfern family and in October 1896 it has the signature of W. Jasper Redfern and there is a dedication poem to H. F. Redfern who died of wounds 29th September 1945. Henry Jasper Redfern was born in Sheffield in 1871. He was an optician, promoter, filmmaker, cinema pioneer and x-ray and radiography pioneer. In the first World War as a field radiologist he lost all of his fingers as a result of radiation exposure. After the way he concentrated on research into x-rays, radiography and cancer cures at the Christie hospital in Manchester. He died in 1928. There are a number of loose pieces in the album relating to him, leather binding, 24 x 20cm.Additional InformationBindings sound if rather worn, some spotting in places. Contains approximately twenty-one pieces.

Charles Inglis was an officer of the Royal Navy who saw service during the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars rising to the rank of Post-Captain; he served with Nelson's Mediterranean Squadron and ultimately became Flag Captain to Rear Admiral George Martin. His well filled book contains pencil and watercolour drawings, seals, cutouts and verse items, in gilt tooled red leather binding.Additional InformationBinding somewhat loose with spine now coming away from the pages, some spotting to page edges and general wear, most predominantly to page edges. Signed Ephemera, Lucy Morton Collection, Blackpool Tower postcard attached to album page showing Czechoslovakian 'dompteur' (lion tamer), Albert Wojtech Trubka who performed at the Blackpool Tower Circus in 1928, the page is annotated in Czech with a dedication to Lucy Morton and signed in full by Trubka. At a performance on 18 Oct 1928 Trubka's act included up to 10 lions, 7 bears, 2 dogs, 2 tigers and a puma, the lions started a fight which Trubka could not control fire hoses had to be used to control the animals, this event was central to the debate surrounding the introduction of the 1930 Performing Animals Protection Act within the UK.
