ONE IN A MILLION - FREDEREEK HERNANDO 7" (ORIGINAL UK DEMO - MGM 1370). A holy grail find for Pysch fans with the incredibly rare 1967 45 Fredereek Hernando c/w Double Sight from Glaswegians One In A Million. This is the original UK 7" demo on MGM (MGM 137). Please note that whilst the visual condition is closer to G/G+, the record has been fully play tested and grades as VG. Despite a number of surface marks, scuffs and some feelable scratches, there is no real deterioration to the sound quality with only low level surface noise and no skips/jumps or otherwise. No centre. A solid playing copy for those who care about the music and not aesthetics.

HMS Hood - scarce autographed 8x10" black and white photo signed by survivor Ted Briggs. Briggs was one of only three men out of 1,400 who survived the sinking of the Hood by the German battleship ' Bismarck '. Signed in black marker to a light portion. With certificate of authenticity.  Albert Edward Pryke "Ted" Briggs MBE (1 March 1923 – 4 October 2008) was a British seaman and the last survivor of the destruction of the battlecruiser HMS Hood. He remained in the Royal Navy after the Second World War and was later commissioned.

Adrien Dauzats (France, 1804 - 1868) "Le Treport" Pencil Drawing. Christie's label verso and front lower right. Robert Noortman Gallery, London label verso. Adrien Dauzats was born in Bordeaux in 1804. He was a painter, illustrator, and writer. His early training was as a theatrical scene painter, and designer of lithographs. He first worked in Bordeaux under Pierre Lacour. He later became an assistant to the scene painter Thomas Olivier, who was the Chief Decorator at the Grand Theatre in Bordeaux. He moved to Paris, and joined the studio of Julien Michel Gue, the historical and landscape painter. Julien Gue recommended him to the decorators of the Theatre Italien, as well as Mattis, Desroches and Blanchard. Signed lower right. Sight Size: 7.75 x 12 in. Overall Framed Size: 14 x 18 in. David K Stone (Oregon, 1922 - 2001) "Robert Frost" Signed lower right. Original Oil painting on Masonite. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting is the original painting which was published on the Fleetwood Commemorative Cover for the Shapers of America Collection produced throughout 1986 and 1987. Robert Frost summed up his own life in a few lines: "I had to have a job. I ran away from college and went to teaching. I got where I wanted to do the telling, instead of being told. My poetry and my teaching are one." And, it was in poetry and teaching he "found the meaning of life only where need and love are one, and the work is played for mortal stakes." He taught first in a small academy, then at Amherst College, then to the whole of America. Reciting poetry everywhere he went, Robert Frost followed his own advice, "You mustn't leave anything the way it was before you touched it." What he touched were the simple things -- the snow-clad hills and the flowing brooks and the elms and the birches; the hardscrabble farms and their hardscrabble farmers and their brave but weary wives. His poems offered simple but profound commentary on the American experience. Frost first won his reputation in England, but in the end, he was happy only in the States. He became, unwittingly, the poet laureate of America - a poet equally loved by the plain people who had no difficulty understanding, and by the critics who knew they were in the presence of truths sometimes too deep to understand. Frost became a national possession. When John Kennedy was inaugurated President, it was Robert Frost who spoke at the inauguration. His was a life of fame and recognition, but as he, himself, put it, all he wished to leave behind "was a few poems it would be hard to get rid of." Image Size: 17.75 x 20.75 in. This painting is the original painting which was published on the Fleetwood First Day Cover for the U.S. Wildlife of the 50 States 22c Blue Jay/North Carolina stamp issued June 13, 1987. One of the most commonly found birds of the eastern United States, the Blue Jay is distinguished from other woodland birds by its piercing jay-jay-jay. Known for mimicking the harsh cries of hawks, the Blue Jay nevertheless occasionally sings its own soft, low song and imitates the musical sounds of other songbirds. An inhabitant of forests, suburban gardens and parks, this friendly bird is often found in close proximity to humans. The Blue Jay's curious nature excites birdwatchers who enjoy observing its theatrical antics. A blue-winged bird with white on its wings and tail, the Blue Jay displays a prominent blue crest and black necklace. Black barrings appear on its wings and tail, while its breast and face are white. Though the Blue Jay is easily spotted by its vivid coloring, it is a master of camouflage, able to hide among tree branches even during winter months. An active, noisy bird, the Blue Jay often travels in small parties and enjoys eating nuts, seeds, fruits and insects. During migration, this boisterous bird travels in loose flocks of five to 50 and is a fall and winter visitor to Oregon and California. The Blue Jay's nest is usually located in the fork of a tree or on a branch, and is made of moss, twigs and leaves, which both the male and female gather as a team. This painting is the original which was published on the Fleetwood First Day Cover for the U.S. 25c South Dakota Statehood stamp issued May 23, 1989. South Dakota sits halfway between the nation's coasts, and halfway between the North Pole and the equator. However, the state is located to the north of America's main travel arteries, and South Dakota is regarded by the many people who don't know it as a mysterious, rugged, frontier state unchanged from the romantic and sometimes bloody ways of days past. A youthful state, South Dakota lacks the long history of the eastern states, the four-hundred-year-old Spanish traditions of the southwestern states, and the well-established Native American culture of other parts of the country -- even South Dakota's Sioux tribes are relative newcomers to the Northern Plains. The first Sioux and the French explorers arrived in the area during the eighteenth century. The nineteenth century brought the Lewis and Clark expedition, fur trade, the gold rush to the Black Hills, Indian uprisings, and the birth of the cattle industry. It also brought heavier settlement around the turn of the century, primarily by German and Scandinavian immigrants, the official end of Indian resistance, and statehood. South Dakota was admitted to the Union as the fortieth state on November 2, 1889, and since then has seen continued population growth, agricultural development, and an expansion of education, culture and the arts. These changes have ushered the South Dakota of the old West into modern times and made it a contemporary western state -- and an integral part of one of the most powerful nations in the world. Ed Vebell (American, 1921 - 2018) "Fulton's Clermont Steamboat" Signed lower right. Original Acrylic painting on Cold Press Illustration Board. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting is the original which was published on the Fleetwood Commemorative Cover for Epic Events in American History series issued in 1985. It was the English who invented the first steam engine and the first steam railroad but it was an American, Robert Fulton, who, in 1807, formally launched the steamboat era. Fulton was not the inventor, however, of the steamboat: that distinction belongs to poor John Fitch, a Connecticut Yankee and a veteran of the Continental Army who, as early as 1787, built and launched a forty-five-foot steamboat. But, alas, nothing came of that brave experiment. Fitch could get no financing for his invention and in the end gave up in despair and fled to the wilds of Kentucky where he died. Ten years later, the New York lawyer and diplomat, Robert Livingston, anticipating the role that steamboats might play in a vast nation whose only effective transportation was by water, persuaded his young friend Robert Fulton, with whose artistic and inventive talents he was familiar, to try his hand at building a steamboat. Fulton boasted a natural talent for engineering. He eagerly embraced Livingston's proposal and by 1807 was ready to launch The Clermont, named after Livingston's hometown. On its maiden trip, the boat steamed up the Hudson to Albany and returned five days later, having averaged a speed of five miles an hour. Successful as it was, it brought no great wealth to either Livingston or Fulton, for in 1824, John Marshall's Court pronounced their monopoly unconstitutional as an infringement on congressional power to regulate "commerce concerning the several states." Erik Nitsche (Swiss, 1908 - 1998) "Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church" Signed lower right. Original Mixed Media painting on Illustration Board. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting is the original which published on the Fleetwood First Day Combination Cover for the Germany Architecture - Gates and Portals stamps issued June 20, 1986. Perhaps the best known architectural symbol of Berlin is the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Chruch in the Breitscheidplatz. The Church was dedicated to Wilhelm I, who was proclaimed Kaiser at Versailles in 1871. Construction began in the early part of the twentieth century and was completed before World War I. The Church was built in the neo-Romanesque style of the 1890s. Until it was destroyed by Allied bombing raids during World War II, the Church stood as a symbol of Berlin's -- and Germany's -- cultural prestige. After the war, Berliners decided not to rebuild the Church, instead, they let it stand as a memorial to the martyrs who died at the hands of the Nazis and as a warning to posterity of the horrors of war. Whether he taught you how to hammer a nail without hitting your thumb, throw a football in the backyard, or told you your very first bedtime story, it is only with the fondest of memories that we think of our fathers. Once we thought he was the biggest, strongest man alive, and that he could solve every problem that ever came along. As children, winning his attention was worth the effort. And, as we grew older, earning his respect -- though more of a job -- was a triumph in itself. The man we affectionately call Dad gave us more than life. He gave us a sense of who we are, and how we should act with dignity and honesty. We are ever grateful for his attention and patience as a teacher; his concern and love as a parent, and his helpfulness as a friend. Gordon Beningfield (British, 1936 - 1998) "California Poppy" Signed lower right. Original Watercolor painting on Paper. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood First Day Cover for the U.S. 29c California Poppy stamp issued July 24, 1992. An appropriate state flower for the "Golden State," the California poppy's brilliant orange-gold flowers conjure visions of sunshine and the lure of gold. Early Spanish explorers found California poppies growing abundantly on hillsides, in valleys, and along ocean shores. Dazzled by this splendor, they christened the poppy copa de oro or "cup of gold." The genus name, Eschscholzia, honors Johann Fredrich Eschscholtz, a German physician and zoologist who accompanied Russian expeditions to the Pacific Coast in the early 1800s. Although its native range extends only from southern California to southern Oregon, California poppies have been planted widely in the Pacific Northwest and other parts of the country. Well-loved for its bright displays, the California poppy is a favorite of gardeners. Forming a mounded clump about a foot tall, the feathery, blue-green foliage contrasts strikingly with the vivid flowers. The California poppy prefers well-drained, sandy soils in full sun. Jack Fellows (American, B. 1941) "1965 Sikorsky S-61 (HH-3E)" Signed lower right. Original Oil painting on Masonite painting. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood First Day Cover of the Sikorsky S-61 (HH-3E) from the 100 Year of Powered Flight Collection. Sikorsky is undoubtedly the most famous name in the world of American helicopters, and this is in no small part due to the charm of both Igor Sikorsky, who flew the famous VS300 on its first tethered flight on September 14, 1939, and his articulate son Sergei Sikorsky. Adaptability has always been a primary characteristic of Sikorsky helicopters and the famous Sikorsky S-61, which made its first flight on March 22, 1959, has appeared in at least twenty-four models. It has also led directly to the development of additional models such as the amphibious S-62. The United States Air Force employed the S-61 as the HH-3E, which achieved fame in Vietnam as the "Jolly Green Giant," a welcome sight for downed airmen surrounded by enemy forces. Keith Reynolds (American, B. 1929) "Ionmeto Patrol Boat" Signed lower right. Original Oil painting on Canvasboard. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting is the original which was published on the Republic of the Marshall Islands 29c Ionmeto stamp and First Day Cover issued February 15, 1992. Rich treasures in the form of abundant fisheries can be found in the lucid waters off the Marshall Islands. To protect them, the Republic of the Marshall Islands launched the patrol boat Ionmeto in 1988. She has sailed the islands since that time acting as a deterrent to those who are unlawful and as an aid to those in distress. With the classic lines of the patrol boats of World War II, the Ionmeto can carry a crew of 12. And with a fuel capacity of 9,000 gallons, the Ionmeto is able to ride the swells and patrol outside the reefs for long periods of time. This artwork was originally published on the Republic of the Marshall Islands 50c Souvenir Sheet and First Day Cover for the Mobil Eagle Majuro issued August 25, 1993. On August 25, 1993, the commanding oil tanker Eagle was christened under the ship registry of the Marshall Islands. This state-of-the-art vessel is fitted with advanced navigation systems, including an integrated bridge, and a fully-automated engine room. Built by Mobil to meet the exacting guidelines of the U.S. Oil Pollution Act of 1990, this magnificent vessel is equipped with a double hull to better protect the marine environment. This is especially vital to the citizens of the Marshall Islands, who glean much of their food from the fish-laden waters surrounding their tropical atolls. That nation's concern for the preservation of marine life was a key factor in permitting the Eagle to fly the Marshallese flag. The artwork also highlights the double-hull construction of the tanker. Series stamp issued September 25, 1981. The fabled nation of Singapore, encompassing a group of small islands off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, has long played a role in world affairs disproportionate to its size. Because Singapore stands athwart one of the premier passageways between the Indian and Pacific oceans, it has served for centuries as a crossroad for the world's sea traffic. Her modern history begins with the Englishman Thomas Raffles. Raffles acquired the island of Singapore from the Malay Sultan of Johore in 1819. Soon, the foundations for a modern city were laid out, with the purpose of transforming a sleepy fishing village into a trade-free emporium of global significance. Raffles' dream was soon realized, for by the middle nineteenth century Singapore had become a major port, as well as an important part of Great Britain's eastern empire. A fine Victorian burr walnut, tulipwood crossbanded and purplewood breakfront wardrobe attributed to Holland & Sons In the Louis XVI style and applied with gilt bronze mounts, the shaped moulded cornice with four turned finials and a riband tied swagged frieze; above a bevelled mirrored door enclosing three slides, three short and two long drawers; flanked by a pair of panelled cupboard doors each enclosing a rail and hooks, all flanked by reeded pilasters, on a moulded plinth base, with paper depository label to one side for 'R.B.Petre 8/8/29', 254cm wide, 61cm deep, 277cm high. The wardrobe offered here undoubtedly formed part of a significant commission of bedroom furniture of high quality for a client who currently remains untraced. The presence of a 1929 storage label which bears the inscribed name R.B Petre would seem likely to indicate that it was handled by R.B Petre in his capacity as a prominent liquidator in early 20th century London. Petre's name has been recorded in contemporary news paper advertising as instructing various sales of property by auction. The above lot is typical of the high quality work produced in the Louis XVI style that Holland and Sons produced in the 1860s and 1870s. The gilt metal mounts utilised on the above lot appear on documented pieces by the firm including the well known commission in the 1860s by Mr R N Thornton, illustrated in R.W Symonds, B.B Whineray Victorian Furniture, London 1962. Under William Holland the firm became cabinetmakers and upholsterers to the Queen, their first commission being for Osborne House in 1845, supplying furniture in the Queen's favoured Louis XVI style. Hollands participated in many of the important International Exhibitions including London in 1862, Vienna in 1873 and Paris in 1867 and 1872 again exhibiting pieces in the favoured Louis XVI style. The Holland's labelled day books are now housed in the National Archive of Art and Design in London and present a virtual 'who's who' of 19th century society.
