He then worked for London marine consultancy Burness, Kendall & Partners before commencing private work for Greek shipping magnate Stavros Niarchos, who commissioned him to build a yacht with the specific brief of outdoing Aristotle Onassis, whose own yacht was a converted destroyer. He later worked for Whessoe in Darlington and lives in the town today. He is a chartered engineer, a member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, and a member of the Institute of Non-Destructive Testing

Scottish interest - Five albums containing c. 540 negatives taken mostly in Scotland around 1900-1930. One album has captions pertaining to Aucheneck House in Stirling and the people who lived there at the time. There are photos of the gravestone of Major Robert Sutherland Strachan, RAMC. The other four albums of negatives also appear to have been taken in Scotland at a slightly later date. Images include landscapes, old buildings, mounted men wearing bearskins, etc., etc. Unfortunately, there are no captions or dates. A full listing of subjects is available.
dating: Second quarter of the 20th Century provenance: Italy, The volume ('Guide of Italian Eastern Africa') was published in Milan in 1938 (XVI), first edition in 490000 samples. In good conditions, some yellowing, small damages, signs of use and time. Sand-color cover, reinforced with canvas. Interesting, long handwritten dedication in two pages signed by Italo Balbo who wrote to his dear friend Gino (Count Augusti), complaining that '... I am afraid of my safety', 'a forthcoming conflict would be devastating' and '...there is betrayal in the air'. The dedication is dated '21 Aprile XVIII', two month before Balbo was killed in Africa. Provenance: the volume belonged to the owner's heirs, and it has always been owned by the family since the war period. height 16 cm.

In paperback (damages at the spine, the front cover with a detachment) with remains of orginal dust cover. With yellowing and some signs of use. The last pages of the volume feature an extremely interesting handwritten writing dated 'Racconigi 1938' and signed 'Maria José'. It is addressed to Count Gino Augusti 'Eroe dell'ultima carica' ('Hero of the Last Charge', part of the Second Battle of the Piave River) and it refers to a secret night meeting that took place 'here in Racconigi, in a private living room' among 'Galeazzo', 'Italo', 'Dino', Count Augusti and Maria Josè, and to which took part seven people who swore: 'the seven of us before the Queen'. In this inscription, it is also asked the participants to keep the meeting secret and they thank Count Augusti for he was 'the one and only who talked about action'. The inscription could refer to the attempt to organize and promote a coup against the regime. An extremely fascinating document deserving an appropriate study. Provenance: Count Augusti's heirs. The guard featuring the dedication 'AL CONTE GINO AUGUSTI EROE DEL SOLSTIZIO LA SCIABOLA DELLA VITTORIA 19 GIUGNO 1919 G. d'Annunzio' on the upper part. Ebony hilt, long cap with remains of nickelling. Button with the motto 'MEMENTO AUDERE SEMPER', one of D'Annunzio's most famous ones. Complete with iron scabbard with one lug and clutches. The Count Gino Augusti commanded the charge during the well-known Battle of Solstizio on June, 19th 1918, defeating the Austro-Hungarian troops. The sabre was originally owned by D'Annunzio, who, at the end of 1918, enlisted the cavalry as a first lieutenant in the Lancieri Regiment of Novara. One year later, D'Annunzio donated the sabre to the Count, a good friend of his, to celebrate his heroic achievements. length 97 cm.

Building Blenheim Palace.- Boulter (William, Joint Comptroller of Works on Blenheim Palace, d. 1708).- Invoice for freight on cordage and grindstones, manuscript, 1p., 2 small tears in left margin, folds, browned, 200 x 159mm., November 1707.⁂ Queen Anne gifted the old royal park of Woodstock to the Duke of Marlborough in grateful thanks for his victories in Europe. The palace foundation stone was laid in 1705. The architect was Vanburgh, a playwright, and the cost of the project quickly spiralled out of control. Sarah, the duchess who disliked Vanburgh brought in William Boulter to try and control the project, and this receipt for £2: 05: 2 shows Boulter settling it.

Quakery.- Reanimation.- By His Majesty's royal letters patent, is particularly recommended, Dr. Sibly's re-animating solar tincture; or, pabulum of life, drop-head title, woodcut royal arms within title, advertisement f. at end, pp.19-22 detached, disbound, 8vo, W.Justins, [c.1800].⁂ Unrecorded edition of Sibly's prospectus for his medicine, which was supposedly able to restore life in cases of sudden death, as well as offer ease from a wide range of other ailments. It includes letters of recommendation from those who have supposedly benefitted from its use in cases as diverse as gun shot wounds and trapped wind. With 21pp. this is the most extensive edition we can trace.
