A PAIR OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY BEDSIDE COMMODES THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY 78cm high, 60cm wide, 47cm deepProvenance: Private Collection, Isle of Wight Condition Report: Both with the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various old splits and chips. Some larger splits to sides and backs. Surface with areas of fading and water marks. Commode drawers have been adapted to a flat timber surface. Various later blocks and runner to interior of carcass. Sone opening to the joins at the edges of the tops. Handles to the upper sections are old replacements. The hinges to these sections are also later. Some old repairs with small amounts of filler used in places. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition. A Louis XV style kingwood and rosewood commode late 19th centuryof bombe form and with gilt metal mounts, the veined white marble top above rosewood banding, diamond parquetry and inlaid ribbon tied flowers, the drawers above a shaped apron and cabriole legsheight 87cm, width 77cm, depth 42cmCondition: Some small veneer losses to the front near the corner edges. The front left leg has some edge losses. The rear left corner has a repair and the marble in this area has some small losses. Overall good, considering age and use. There is a key.

Raised on cabriole line inlaid legs with a wide serpentine fronted chest of twin deep drawers having large ormolu handles and key escutcheons. The chest with inlaid with cartouche of floral sprays to centre top within baroque inlaid borders and decoration elsewhere. Measures approx. 82cm x 116cm x 58cm.
