Dessus de marbre blanc veiné gris.Estampillée dans la forme odinaire R. Lacroix avec poinçon de Jurande, époque Louis XVI, vers 1775.H. 89x60x129 cm. Référence: Roger Vandercruse était un ébéniste flamand qui utilisait simultanément ou indifféremment deux estampilles R. Lacroix & R.V.L.C. Il a été un des plus grands ébénistes du XVIIIe siècle, fils d'un ouvrier libre. Il s'intéressait tout particulièrement à la beauté des bois de placage et même si parfois il utilisait la marqueterie à fleurs ou à sujets, il préférait la la géométrie et même produisit un certain nombre de pièces sans décor aucum, laissant les bronzes s'exprimer seuls sur un champ uni. Ses meubles ont presque toujours atteint des prix élevés pour l'époque grâce à leur qualité et leur perfection dans l'ensemble de son Å“uvre. Il travailla pour la couronne, fut un des fournisseur du duc d'Orléans, et par l'intermédiaire du marchand Poirier, reçut des commandes pour le mobilier de la comtesse du Barry à Louveciennes. Une commode unie moins ornée de bronzes a été présentée chez Mercier & Cie, 59000 Lille (France) le 11 décembre 2016 sous le lot n° 347. Une autre commode en bois de satiné appartenant au Mobilier National, ouvrant à 5 tiroirs et deux portes, venant des Tuileries et orne maintenant le palais de Versailles.
