A Dutch inlaid walnut bombe commode, 18th/19th centuryThe shaped, cross-banded and moulded top with inlaid foliate patera, above four long graduated drawers, raised on scroll front supports.86cm wide x 62cm deep x 82cm highCondition:A little tired overall with some marks and fading to the top, repairs to cross-banding veneers. Top drawer not fully closing. Veneer splits to the front of the second and third drawers. Fine splits to the sides. Small veneer losses in places. All handles and key escutcheon replaced. No key.
A late 18th century French 'Directoire' period commode, black marble topped chest with fitted drawers, veneered and parquetry decoration with gilt brass fittings, on inlaid legs, two keys, height 54cm, width 128cm, depth 65cm.Note from vendor: The chest of drawers was made by a former prisoner in the Bastille during the French Revolution, for the young lady who helped him escape. It had been passed down the family of my maternal grandfather, Jean Tripier. I inherited it in the early 1990s.

A Dutch oak double serpentine commode. 18th century, fitted four long drawers with brass ring handles, on bun feet, height 77cm, width 91cm, depth 52cm.The top has a split at the back and a filled area.The handles are replacements, as are the bun feet. There is a split on one side. There is no evidence of woodworm.
HRH King Charles III (when Prince of Wales) A personal letter with the King's autograph A handwritten letter from Charles, dated December 1st 1992, two sheets fully filled of cream Kensington Palace headed paper with blue royal cypher, in black ink in the King's own hand. Written to Dudley Poplak, his friend and interior designer, effusively expressing his thanks for the birthday gift of a 'splendid commode' which Dudley had sent him, and he reminisces about another previous gift of an 'exquisite Edward Lear'. Signed 'Yours most gratefully, Charles'White envelope with blue royal cypher, addressed by hand and unpostmarked.

Width 101xm, height 83cm, depth 44cm.Good overall condition (apart from missing marble top). Some very minor cracking and rippling to veneer, to be expected of a used piece. No obvious damage or repairs. Key present and locks in working order. Impressed maker's mark to drawer.

Dutch walnut bombe commode, early 20th Century, the top with moulded edge, two short and two long drawers, carved ball and claw feet, width 112cm, depth 57cm, height 87cm.Condition report:Generally good condition, glass top but there are still some small markas typical with age and use, front is noticeably lighter than the top, both sides have splita dna small moulding chip to the right corner, with a key that works in the middle drawer, feet are good.
