A late 18th century Italian walnut and marquetry inlaid commode, the banded top with a central leaf panel above three long drawers, with a central urn and foliage, fitted later handles and escutcheons, on leaf bracketed legs, 33in (84cm) h, 50in (127cm) d, 23in (58.4cm) d. Some re-veneering, legs cut and central drawer lock missing.
A Louis XVI parquetry and marquetry inlaid breakfront commode, in the manner of Betrand Alexis Chaumond, veneered in tulipwood, the rouge marble top (with damage) above three small drawers with chevron inlay to the frieze and two long drawers with criss-cross trellis design banded by entwined ribbons having replaced gilt brass swing handles and oval ribbon tied escutcheons with gilt bronze chased mounts, oak lined. The fluted inlaid side pilasters and apron frieze with ormolu mounts conforming panel sides on chevron band inlaid turned tapering legs with chased ormolu socket feet. 4ft. 2.5in. (128cm) wide.

Paul Sormani, A fine commode Paris, circa 1880 parquetry and gilt-bronze, after a model by Jean Henri Reisener, in Louis XVI style, with a breche voilette top above a frieze drawer and faux drawers, signed Sormani Paris, 15 Boulvd Hausmann and stamped Sormani Paris h.90cm., w.132cm., d.55cm. Paul Sormani (1817-1877) was based at 10 rue Charlot from 1867. The business continued after Sormani's death in 1887 under the direction of his widow and Son until 1934. Many of the pieces made by the firm were directly influenced by earlier 18th century models. Their work was especially recognised for its exceptional quality and was widely exhibited during the second half of the century. W
After Guillaume Benneman, A fine commode A Vantaux French mahogany and gilt-bronze, in Louis XVI style, with a white marble top above a pair of doors h.94cm.; w.183cm.; d.65cm. The model for this commode is related to celebrated "commode with doves", which Benneman adapted from a model by Stockel in 1786. Benneman was was recieved maitre in 1785 and carried out work for the crown in subsequent years. Many of his designs inspired makers in the 19th century and the commodes he supplied for Marie Antoinette's Salon des Jeux at Fontainebleau were produced by several leading makers. W
