An 18th century French tulipwood Transitional commode, with Breche d'Alep marble, floral marquetry inlays, fitted two drawers on swept legs with ormolu mounts and sabot, stamped A.J.B Vassou and JME 84 x 95 x 50cm (33 x 37 x 20in) Other Notes: Jean-Baptiste Vassou, (1739-1807), was a Parisian ebeniste - and later Maitre ebeniste on January 28, 1767. Vassou become known for a fairly abundant production of pretty furniture, almost all of Transition or Louis XVI period. An old repair to the marble and small areas of old repair and minor veneer damage to the carcase due to wear in the drawer runners
