A Dutch mahogany and floral marquetry bomb‚ shaped commode, richly inlaid with flowers and insects, with three deep drawers above a shaped apron, gilt mounts and sabots, 128cm by 63cm by 80cm CONDITION REPORT: Cosmetically reasonable and a fairly uniform colour. Various small sections of marquetry inlay missing and replaced. Numerous splits throughout, particularly side panels. Section of inlay missing to left hand panel. Structurally joints weak with some movement. Later elements to drawers. New timber for backboard. 051015
A Louis XV style kingwood, parquetry and gilt metal mounted bomb‚ commode, early 20th century, the brocatelle violette marble top above two short and two long graduated drawers above a shaped apron, raised on cabriole legs with gilt foliate mounts and sabots, 122cm by 54cm by 88cm CONDITION REPORT: Marble top good, but some minor fritting along back edge. Small veneer losses throughout. Small sections of veneer starting to bubble and lift. Drawer fronts rather faded. Several water? marks visible. Metal mounts and handles of average quality. 061015
A satinwood and polychrome decorated demi-lune commode, in the manner of Seddon Sons & Shackleton, the top decorated with a painted peacock feather border above three deep drawers decorated with flower garlands flanked by husks, with two cupboard doors painted with oval panels of classical figures after Kaufmann, raised on square tapering legs with brass toes, 140cm by 61cm by 93cm The painted peacock feather border to the top closely relates to the decoration on a card table forming part of a documented suite of furniture supplied by the leading London cabinet makers, Seddon Sons & Shackleton to D. Tupper for Hautville House, Guernsey in 1790. See Gilbert (C), Seddon Sons & Shackleton, Furniture History, 1997, pg.6, fig.3 CONDITION REPORT: Cosmetically good. Some small veneer losses, scuffs and bruises consistent with age. Some minor small crack marks to paintwork. With keys and working locks. Ivory escutcheon missing to top drawer. Previous handle marks visible to inside of drawers, nothing visible on the outside suggesting the commode has been reveneered. Escutcheon on left hand cupboard door damaged. Lock replaced on right hind cupboard door. Modern hinges used. Some strengthening and repair work around legs. Commode structurally sound. 081015
