The expected old chips ands splits. Some minor old repairs. Marble top with the an old repaired crack through the centre (using metal staples from the underside). Some tarnishing to gilt metal elements. Some mounts to the feet loose and may require simple re-securing. Metalware appears original. No key present but all locks are open. AN 18TH CENTURY ITALIAN WALNUT AND PARQUETRY/MARQUETRY INLAID MARBLE TOPPED BOMBE COMMODE CHEST serpentine marble top (possibly Rosso Levanto) over three serpentine front drawers inlaid with six pointed star within crossbanded border flanked by similarly inlaid sides on splayed supports joined by shaped aprons, 78cm high x 67cm wide x 35cm deep. Chest was formerly own by a Dr Essel Mitchell who was on of the first qualified female physiotherapists in Scotland and may have obtained it while studying from the Miss Cranston's Tearooms Condition report:Chest is in a good relative condition to age and use with minor chips to edges of serpentine marble top, cracking to veneers on sides and drawer facings with losses to bottoms of supports, back panel appears to be a later replacement for original, drawers run with little difficulty.
