A French walnut commode, mid 18th century, of serpentine outline, 101cm high, 130cm wide, 67cm deepCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use,The top with marks, scratches, indentations and some gouges, also two inset timber sections which have been 'disguised' as knot holes (these are approximately the size of a 10p piece). there are further plugs where the side rails join the top,Old chips, losses, and some replacements to veneers, inlays, mouldings, beadings,Old splits and cracksSigns of old woodworm, especially to a side piece of timber which has numerous bore holes. in some places the wormholes have been filled. The handles appear to be original, the lowest drawer handle is detached as can be seen in the online catalogue images - there is one back plate present with the lot but this is sheared off and missing the pull, a replacement would need to be sought or this piece restored.
