One side with split opening slightly along the central line where the veneers join. Top has neatly repaired cracks with filler used to help disguise - see images. Wear and polishing deposits to the handles, escutcheons and mounts. Handles, escutcheons and mounts are possibly later replacements. Various screws have been used to secure.The escutcheon to the lower drawer with a section of loss to one side. No key present, both locks are open. Some 'shadow' in areas adjacent to handles from previous fixtures. Baize to slide is a replacement. It has fading, marks and discolourations. Some glue residue and later tape to joins between boards of the bottoms of drawers. Escutcheons likely old well matched replacements. Locks appear original. Key present and operates all locks. A Louis XVI-style inlaid, parquetry and mahogany marble top commode, French c.1900, after Jean-Henri Riesener, modelled from the Concordant Commode at the Palais de Fontainebleau, the shaped and veined white marble top over three frieze drawers and shaped and panelled doors, the front of bowed, breakfront form, the sides flared, the drawers and frieze with ornate gilt bronze mounts, the doors inlaid with a central panel of an ewer and a basket of fruit on a specimen wood ground, flanked by panels with stylised flower heads, the sides conforming, within boldly cast gilt bronze mounts,166cm wide64cm deep94cm highCondition report: Minor chips to edges of marble, mainly the back edge. Repaired split to both side panel. Smaller door with wear to hinge edge. Faded.it looks as though it has been through a restorers workshop at some point in its life, both panels have been repaired and there are areas of the veneers damaged internally (see photos) other small areas of repair, evidence of glue between the backboards and expansion within the joints of the carcass. Gilt metal worn extensively and unevenly slightly pitted to the surface, split to the front right-hand door that is also visible from the inside.One key. It could easily go straight into a grand house.

A French Louis XV style kingwood and ormolu mounted serpentine bombe commode, with veined pink marble top, two drawers and swept feet, W.4ft D.2ft H.2ft 11in.CONDITION: Marble top, which is probably later, has some chipping to the back right corner and perhaps a repair to the tip of the front right corner, ebonised ground fronting the drawers and side panels is faded and scuffed with a number of fine cracks running throughout, overall front looks a little faded, some small losses of veneers around the apron and down the sides of the legs, both locks look original with a working key, one loose ormolu mount from the front right foot, the mount is still present, no mounts to the back feet, overall fair to good condition.
A 19th century Continental walnut serpentine commode, fitted three long drawers with brass loop handles, on reduced scroll feet, W.3ft 10in. D.2ft 1in. H.2ft 8in.CONDITION: Overall of an even mid golden brown tone, an old filled separation in the top panels which looks to be part of the manufacture but maybe later infill, also runs down the joints of the right hand side of the top, further infilled old splits, knocks and dents commensurate with age with a flathead screw showing in the back right corner, the handles look to be later additions, and feet cut down from a more pronounced scroll, fitted with old locks but no key.

Lacroix, Meister 1755), Innungsstempel.Rosenholz und Amarant fein eingelegt in Form von Reserven "à la grèque" und "cercles entrelacés". Trapezförmiger Korpus mit markant geschwungenen Seiten und leicht gerundeter Front auf ausgeschnittener Zarge und geschweiften Beinen. Front mit Doppeltüre zwischen markant geschwungenen Eckstollen mit vergoldeten Bronzebeschlägen in Form von Rocaillen, Blüten, Voluten und mit Liktorenbündeln. Sabots in Form von Tatzenfüssen. Zargenzierde in Form von Rocaillen und Blumen. Innen eingeteilt in sechs Fächer, wohl mit originalem, blauem Seidenbezug. Weiss/grau gesprenkeltes, randmoulüriertes Marmorblatt. 1 Schlüssel.116 x 54,5 x 86 cm.Erhaltungsrestaurationen und Reparaturen. Kleinere Furnierergänzungen.Roger Vandercruse genannt Lacroix (1727-1799) war wie sein Kollege Charles Topino (Meister 1773) ein Spezialist in der Herstellung von kleinen Schreibtischen, Bonheurs du Jour und Kommoden. Er gehörte zur bedeutendsten Dynastie Pariser Ebenisten des 18. Jahrhunderts. Als Schwager von Jean-François und Simon Oeben, arbeitete er in der Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine. Er verkaufte seine qualitätsvollen Möbel über berühmte Zwischenhändler wie Pierre II Migeon und hochkarätige ‘Marchand-Mercier’ wie Simon-Philippe Poirier (um 1720-1785). Über deren Vermittlungstalent belieferte Lacroix die damalige Pariser Hautevolee mit meisterhaften Möbelpreziosen. In den Jahren 1769 –1774 lieferte Lacroix durch die Vermittlung des Ebenisten Gilles Joubert (1689 – 1775) mehrere Möbelstücke an den offiziellen ‘Garde-Meuble de la Couronne’ und somit direkt an die königliche Familie. Sein Geschäft florierte nicht zuletzt auch, als der Duc d'Orléans und Madame du Barry zu seinem Kundenstamm stießen.Charakteristisch für die Arbeit von Roger Vandercruse Lacroix sind Kommoden mit geschwungener Front. Oftmals sind seine Kreationen mit einem üppigen Palisanderfurnier und mit in sich verschlungenen, geometrischen Kreismotiven versehen. Die Verwendung geometrischer Intarsien lehnt sich an Jean-François Oeben Oeuvre an, wobei Lacroix die Ecken seiner Entwürfe durch sog. Linien ‘à la grecque’ ergänzt, die oftmals mit Amaranth-Filets unterstrichen werden. Die vorliegende Kommode lässt sich, wie viele seiner Entwürfe, mithilfe zweier Flügel öffnen und gibt den Blick auf sechs Fächer frei, die mit blauer Moiré-Seide überzogen sind.Eine ähnliche Kommode mit zwei Schubladen, ebenfalls ‘R.V.L.C.’ gestempelt und mit den gleichen Intarsien in Amarant und Palisander sowie den verschlungenen Kreismotiven, jedoch mit weniger ausgefallenen Bronzebeschlägen, gehörte zur Sammlung von ‘Madame S. S... [sic]’ (Auktion Hôtel Drouot, Paris, 7.-8. Dezember 1931, Lot 245). Ein Sekretär ‘à abattant’ wohl aus den Jahren um 1758 mit der Stempelung ‘R.V.L.C.’ aus der ehemaligen Sammlung von Paul Dutasta weist ebenfalls ein ähnliches Intarsiendekor aus verschlungenen Kreisformen auf. Möbel mit dem Stempel ‘R.V.L.C.’ oder ‘R. LACROIX’ sind derzeit in zahlreichen grossen internationalen öffentlichen Sammlungen vertreten. So in Paris beispielsweise im Louvre (Sammlung Rothschild, Musée du Louvre, Inv.-Nr. OA 11298); im Musée des Arts décoratifs (Inv.-Nr. PE 1511 & Inv.Nr. 46513); im Musée Nissim de Camondo (Inv.-Nr. CAM 345 & Inv. CAM 194); in Londons Victoria and Albert Museum (Inv.-Nr. W.20-1997, Inv.-Nr. 1116:1-5-1882 & Inv.-Nr. 376:1, 2-1901); im J. Minor supplements to the veneer.Roger Vandercruse, known as Lacroix (1727-1799), like his colleague Charles Topino (maître 1773), was a specialist in the manufactoring of small desks, bonheurs du jour and chests of drawers. He belonged to the most important dynasty of Parisian ebenists of the 18th century. The chest of drawers on offer, like many of his designs, opens up to reveal six compartments lined in blue moiré silk.A similar two-drawer chest, also stamped 'R.V.L.C.' and with the same amaranth and tulipwood inlays and intertwined circular motifs, but with less fancy opulents mounts, was part of the collection of 'Madame S. S... [sic]' (Hôtel Drouot Auction, Paris, 7-8 December 1931, Lot No. 245). A secretary 'à abattant' probably from around 1758 stamped 'R.V.L.C.' from the former collection of Paul Dutasta also has a similar inlaid decoration of intertwined circular motifs. Furniture stamped 'R.V.L.C.' or 'R. LACROIX' is currently represented in numerous large international public collections. In Paris, for example, in the Louvre (Rothschild Collection, Musée du Louvre, Inv. No. OA 11298); in the Musée des Arts décoratifs (Inv. No. PE 1511 & Inv. Leicht trapezförmiger, dreiseitig gebauchter Korpus auf ausgeschnittener Zarge und geschweiften Beinen mit Bronzesabots. Front mit zwei Schubladen, die obere ohne Traverse. Die Schubladenfronten mit Messingkanneluren versehen. Vergoldete Bronzebeschläge (später) in Form von Rocaillen, Blumen, Blättern und Muscheln. Blatt wohl Marbre de Belpberg. Die Schubladen teils mit originalem Kleisterpapier, überdeckt von mit grüner Seide bezogenem Karton. 1 Schlüssel.101 × 60 × 87 cm.Guter restaurierter Zustand. Bronzebeschläge später, nach Vorlagen von Funk. Die Schlösser später und versetzt.Elegante Kommode mit feinem Furnierbild in sehr gutem, restaurierten Zustand. Die Kommode entspricht in der Systematik von Hermann von Fischer dem Typ G4. Eine sehr ähnliche Kommode ist abgebildet unter Nummer 160 und wird datiert auf die Jahre 1750/55. (Hermann von Fischer, Fonck a Berne, Bern 2001. S. 99). Bis auf die Schlüsselschilder weist diese Kommode die identischen Bronzemonturen auf. Die Modelle der Schlüsselschilder finden sich jedoch auf anderen Arbeiten des Ebenisten. ROCOCO COMMODEBerne ca. 1750/55. By Matthäus Funk (1697 – 1783).Walnut and walnut burlwood, inlaid in rectangular reserves. Convex body on curved legs with bronze sabots. Front with three drawers, the upper drawer sans-traverse. The front of the drawers, decorated with brass fluting. Gilt bronze mounts (later), designed as rocailles, flowers, leaves and shells. Marble top, probably "Marbre de Belpberg". The drawers, in part with original paste paper, covered by cardboard lined with green silk. 1 key.101 × 60 × 87 cm.In good, restored condition. Bronze mounts, later, after templates by Funk. The locks, later and moved.An elegant chest of drawers with a fine veneer pattern in a very good, restored condition. The chest of drawers matches the type G4 in Hermann von Fischer's system. A very similar chest of drawers is depicted under number 160 and is dated 1750/55. (Hermann von Fischer, Fonck a Berne, Berne 2001. p. 99). With the exception of the escutcheons, this commode features bronze mounts identical thereto. However, these types of escutcheons can also be found on other furniture by this ebenist.
