Pour réaliser la frise de la partie haute de la console, Winckelsen s’inspire de la frise présente sur la commode de Marie-Antoinette à Marly par Riesener, la marqueterie en treillis de rosaces dites « à la reine » se retrouve sur quatre encoignures de Riesener livrées en 1775 pour le Salon des Jeux à Versailles. Charles-Guillaume Winckelsen a produit des meubles d’une excellente qualité ainsi que l’atteste notamment la vente d’une paire de commodes d’après André-Charles Boulle, le 7 juin 2011, à New York par Christie’s pour un montant 458 000 $.
