An 18th century Danish walnut and giltwood commode, in the manner of Matthias Ortmann, the moulded and crossbanded serpentine top above gilt frieze and three shaped long drawers, above ribbon carved gilt apron, on acanthus and lattice carved spreading feet. 74cm wide, 81.5cm high, 50.5cm deep Provenance: Colstoun, East Lothian, sold Sotheby’s, 21st May 1990, lot 127. A Georgian mahogany commode later adapted to form a bedside pot cupboard, the tray top with pierced handles above a single frieze drawer and a double door cupboard with inlaid boxwood stringing, further fitted below with a drawer with corresponding detail, all raided to square tapered legs, 18’ wide by 33’ high, with alterations and repairs.

A late 19th century French rosewood veneered floral marquetry commode, of small proportions, having a rouge and grey veined marble top above the bombe body fitted with two short drawers, the upper drawer stamped "From S & H Jewells, Furniture Warehouses, 29, 30 & 31 Little Queen Street, Holborn", each drawer front with foliate marquetry and ormolu scroll handles with shaped apron beneath with further ormolu mount and flanked on either side by mask appliques, each side panel with scroll, vase and foliate marquetry and raised on short legs terminating in sabot feet.
