A good Louis XV style bombe commode, with later marble top and gilt metal masks, the three long drawers on bracket feet, height 85cm, width 122cm, depth 59cm. Condition report: Believed to be 19th century. Some very small pieces of beading missing on two drawers. Generally in good overall condition.

A Newhall porcelain teapot and cover, circa 1790, of commode form, puce mark to underside, height 15cm, together with similar sugar basin, milk jug and four matching teabowls with saucers (11) CONDITION REPORT: Chip to rim of teapot (thumbnail sized), security chain present on lid, spout un-damaged, puce mark N208, milk jug slight time-staining otherwise good, sugar with general discolouration but in good order, one teabowl with hairline crack, saucers in fair condition.
A Maltese marquetry commode, the top inlaid a shaped cartouche with stag and hound in foliage within scrolling boxwood lines and border of seaweed marquetry panels above a frieze drawer and three long drawers similarly inlaid and strung, the sides inlaid scrollwork and marquetry panels with putti, raised on ebonised bun feet, 159cm wide, 107cm high/Provenance: This commode was originally one of a pair owned by William Parnis, an eminent Maltese lawyer. Parnis had two sons; the eldest Edgar (1857-1913) left significant bequests to the National Library of Malta and to the Valletta Museum. The commodes were inherited by the younger son Alfred (1860-1946) and passed by descent to the current owner/see illustration Condition Report: The geometric top with split to the veneer throughout, some veneer missing, the marquetry panels all raised in places and some missing inlay and veneer. Side panels of very good colour but with veneer splits to one end and minor splits and lifting inlay to both. Drawer fronts of good colour with some lifting and some minor lifting veneer, three escutcheon plates replaced and with crude screw attachments. Top drawer lock missing, all drawers with split bases, ebonised bun feet scuffed, one loose. Back with splits and loose. Although the spandrels are a different shape to those on the sides and front, the scrollwork marquetry is very similar in decoration, the central escutcheon moulding has comparable inlay to the top, the underside of the top appears of similar age to the carcass sides.
A LOUIS XIV STYLE MARQUETRY COMMODE stamped Edwards & Roberts, slightly bow front, the top inlaid with a large stylised florette and burr-wood roundels, moulded gilt metal edge, fitted with two short and two long drawers, each with bold bird inhabited floral spandrels on an ebony ground. The sides with large flower-filled urns, on an ebony ground, 30.5" high x 46" wide x 23" deep
