A fine quality French Louis XV revival commode of serpentine form, featuring a veined marble top with elegantly carved border above the highly ornate marquetry inlaid rosewood veneered and cross banded structure applied with cast gilt metal mounts, fitted with three drawers flanked either side by highly elaborately marquetry inlaid and shaped side panels, the whole raised on four square tapered and outswept supports, width approx 80cm (illustrated)
A GEORGE III MAHOGANY SERPENTINE COMMODE probably by Chippendale, the well figured top with a moulded edge, fitted with four graduated long drawers flanked by blind fret carved outset corners, on wooden roller casters, 36 1/4ins. (92.5cms.) high x 41 1/2ins. (105.5cms.) wide x 24ins. (61cms.) deep Comparable chests are in the collections of The Duke of Devonshire at Chatsworth and The Earl of Pembroke at Wilton.
