DOCUMENTING WITH MEDALS INCLUDING LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT - PHOTOGRAPHS AND PAPERWORK COVERING HIS WHOLE CAREER FROM 1926 TO 1955. This remarkable collection is being sold as one lot at the request of the family. Photographs and paperwork his entire career from 1926 to 1955. He was initially trained as a Rigger/Carpenter and later as an airframe fitter specialising in engine fitting also. Through this trade he served as both Ground and Air Crew on many important aircraft including the R101 Airship, Dakota, Bristols, Hawker, Gypsy Moth, and Vickers. As a fitter he was involved in the recovery and investigation of many crashed and downed aircraft including the K.L.M. Airline crash in Iraq in 1934 and recovery of all the bodies. Before this he recorded Amy & Jim Mollison in the K.L.M. aircraft during the England to Australia Air Race 1935. All of these important events and aircraft he photographed and recorded. Fl Sgt Oxford was first posted to Grantham where he Boxed and played Hockey for his squadron in No.3 F/T school. This final flight ended in disaster at Beauvais where all but 7 of the 55 passengers and crew were killed. He also served on HMS Furious, the Torpedo Carrier and HMS Glorious as, possibly, aircraft recognition. He worked on Sunderland Flying Boats in 1939 at 201 Sq. Lerwick.
