Includes: Mike Oldfield “Tubular Bells” (first pressing with the white/black twins label and “13 Notting Hill Gate” credit); “The Time Of The Zombies” (2xLP); “Neil Young “Harvest” (with poster); Hookfoot “Headlines” (2xLP); Geno Washington “Hand Clappin', Foot Stompin' Funky Butt....Live!”; The Beatles (x4); Cat Stevens (x5); etc. The condition of the vinyl appears to be mostly very good.
HARDY THOMAS: (1840-1928) English Novelist. A.L.S., with his initials T. H., on one side of a correspondence card, Max Gate, 21st December 1916, to Arthur Symons. Hardy writes, in full, 'Book received. Many thanks. Will read same and write thereon later. This merely to acknowledge receipt'. Hand addressed by Hardy to the verso. Some light age wear and minor dust staining to the edges, otherwise VG Arthur Symons (1865-1945) British Poet, Critic and Magazine Editor. Symons and Hardy had been acquainted since the 1890s and Symons wrote a biography, A Study of Thomas Hardy, in 1922.
[CHURCHILL WINSTON S.]: (1874-1965) British Prime Minister 1940-45, 1951-55. Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1953. Small selection of ephemera and other items relating to Churchill including a partially smoked cigar butt, 4.5" in length, accompanied by its original Santa Maria of Havana aluminium cigar tube bearing the words Supplier to The Right Honourable Sir Winston Churchill, an oblong 12mo red and black printed luggage label featuring Churchill's name and title to one side and a large initial C to the other side, an American First Day Cover commemorating Churchill, addressed to Lady Churchill at Hyde Park Gate, London, and post marked 13th May 1965. Also including a T.L.S. by British Conservative politician Kenneth Warren, one page, 8vo, House of Commons, London, 10th June 1983, to Mrs. Eyres-Thomas, thanking her for her help in the recent General Election. Some light staining and age wear to the cigar, G to VG, 5 Provenance: According to information supplied by the vendor each of the Churchill related items included in the present lot were originally obtained directly from Clementine Churchill whilst Mrs. Eyres-Thomas was working for the Conservative Party.
