It is believed that the extra long barrel was designed to circumvent the 1880 German import tax on guns with barrels shorter than 10cm. Action works well with a lightly pitted bore.
A CLEAN CASED 9MM SIX-SHOT PINFIRE REVOLVER BY BLANCH & SON, 4.5inch sighted blued barrel engraved with the manufacturer's details on the top flat, blued cylinder, blued frame serial no. 390, loading gate and ejector on the right side, finely chased hard rubber grips decorated with scrolling foliage and mounted German cavalry officers, the butt with lanyard ring, contained in its green baize lined oak case, the lid with trade label, complete with oil bottle, cleaning rod and later turnscrew, the two lidded compartments with bone lifters, complete with key. The backstrap of the revolver engraved with the owner's name Captain L.R. Gerard. Action works well with a lightly pitted bore.
