An attractive white porcelain bell made by the Koenigliche Porzellan Manufaktur (KPM) in Berlin as a commemorative piece for the famous 1936 Olympic Games held there.The bell is an official replica of the huge bronze bell in the Berlin Bell Tower and is decorated with 3rd Reich era emblems. One side depicts the German eagle clutching the five Olympic Rings while the other has the Brandenburg Gate. Written is “1-16 August 1936″ and “11.Olympische Spiele Berlin” and the Motto “Ich rude die Jugend der Weld” - “I call the youth of the world”. Est. £150 - £200

(8 x 6 1/2 in) Together with Margaret Dunwoody Hausberg's The Prints of Theodore Roussel, A Catalogue Raisonné , numbered 164 of 750, in green cloth slipcase, and a Christie's sale catalogue, 28th October 1988; the original auction for the present etching, lot 341. 'The gate and house behind it still stand today at No.4 Cheyne Walk.
