Sir John Tenniel (1820 - 1914), an interesting collection of four early Victorian watercolour portraits depicting the outdoor staff of Islington Hall near Kings Lynn, the home of Richard Bagge (1810 - 1891), to include: 'John Telly, born January 1794, died January 1857, for 32 years Gardener at Islington Hall', signed and dated 1844, 39.5cm x 27cm, Thomas Betney the shepherd, seated upon a grey pony with a dog, signed and dated 1843, 34cm x 42cm, King Allen born 1769, died November 1854, standing before a gate with a dog, signed and dated, 39.5cm x 27cm and 'The Bailiff' standing before a cottage door, 41.5cm x 28cm, each in glazed gilt frames, together with a framed letter from George Cecil Pereira (1903 - 1976), stating the history of the portraits and Islington Hall CONDITION REPORT Each in very good condition.
