Thomas Koether (New York, Florida, Europe, Australia, b. 1940) Abstract Painting. Titled: "Watcher" Dated: '95 Oil on Canvas. Signed lower right and verso. Size: 13 x 13 in. (199 - 4669) In 1960, Koether was accepted to the school of the Art Institute of Chicago at age 20. In 1963 Koether Moved to New York City and started going to the Art Students League. In June of 1966 he graduated with honors from N.Y.U. and was accepted to the N.Y.U. graduate school of Communications Arts in Cinematography under Haig Manoogian. In 1970, he moved to Paris to take a studio space at the American Center on Boulevard Raspail. In July of ’71 Koether went to Italy and did a lot of drawing and watercolors. In Florence he met Italian art restorers and learned a lot about restoration from them. That same year, he participated in a group show at the American Center and sold several pieces – one to director Henry Pillsbury. The work from Ibiza and Paris dealt with attempts to delineate abstraction as a form with his own experience of his own abstractness – landscapes and still-lives of his own psychic and emotional space. This work has a post-psychedelic aspect. In 1974 Koether moved back to New York and worked in N.Y.C. as an art restorer with Roger Ricco Associates. That year, he had a one man show at Ajanta Gallery on East 9th Street. In 1976, Koether moved to Australia and established an art conservation business and worked on the 5 major collections of Oceanic art in Australia. Chris Calle (American, B. 1961) "Boy w/ Toy Locomotive" Signed lower left. Mixed Media on Illustration Board. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood First Day Cover for the United States 29c Toy Locomotive Self-adhesive stamp issued October 28, 1992. The quest begins in early fall. Children cozily ensconced with grandparents, Mom and Dad scout discount emporiums and toy stores in search of the perfect toy train set. Their purchase made, they sneak surreptitiously into the house and lug cumbersome packages down to the basement, a makeshift assembly plant for the next several months. A plywood base is carefully constructed and covered with material simulating the color and texture of grass. Soon rails are attached; crossing signs and station houses go up. If Mom and Dad have been duly industrious, the present is ready for action by Christmas morning. Toy train sets have captivated the hearts and imaginations of children the world over since the first steam locomotive chugged its way into transportation history. First produced in the late 1880s, toy trains were manufactured in large quantities over the next several decades by American companies such as Lionel Corporation, Louis Marx and Company, American Flyer Manufacturing Company and Ives Corporation. As real railroad technology advanced, toy trains became more lifelike, and many aficionados responded by creating elaborate surroundings for their sets. One collector's Lionel model 390E Blue Comet made its way around a diorama which included replicas of New York City's Hell's Gate Bridge and Philadelphia's Independence Hall. A toy locomotive takes center stage in this artwork. Image Size: 12.25 x 12.5 in. Overall Size: 23.25 x 19 in. Unframed. (B14020)

1 Bottle Ardbeg “Twenty Something” 1 Bottle Ardbeg “Twenty Something” 22 Year Old Committee Release Distillery Bottling Vintage 1996 46.4%ABV - Bottled 18.07.2018 “This 22 year old expression has been matured exclusively in ex-bourbon barrels, and is comprised of some of the most limited stock in any Scottish distillery warehouse. With the bulldozers lurking at the distillery gate, and little hope for its future, very few casks were being filled and laid down. These bottlings are a testament to the faith of those who persevered with the operation, and are bottled in honour of the Ardbeg Committee whose mandate is to ensure the distillery never experiences such fears for its existence again. The ex-bourbon casks were distilled in the spring of 1996 in the still that now sits monumentally outside the distillery gates, and they were bottled in July 2018”

Clare WHITE (1903-1997) Boys, Saint-Malo, Brittany Watercolour, initialled, 38 x 50cm.Painted in the 1950s / 60s, this characterful watercolour by St Ives artist Clare White shows a group of young men exiting a gate through the walls of the medieval town of Boys, Saint-Malo in Brittany. She captures the quiet, solid age of the walls and the swagger of the young men who look back at the artist as she works at her easel in the shade. Clare always painted from life and loved to include ordinary people, going about their day, in her engaging street scenes. She spoke fluent French, as well as Italian and German, and visited France regularly, to visit friends and paint. From the collection of art historian and curator Andrew Pollard, the proprietor of the Clare White Gallery, who studied and exhibited Clare’s work 2002-2013. Andrew knew White and has been a passionate advocate for restoring the artist to her rightful place in Cornish art history. The works were purchased directly from the artist’s god daughter.
