H. G. Wells (1866-1946) original autograph letter on headed paper, 47 Chiltern Court, Clarence Gate, NW1 (the famous Marylebone flat where Wells hosted his book club). Dated 29th April 1935, handwritten in ink and signed by Wells lower-right. Complete with envelope, addressed to Charles L. Rayner Esq., "Laurence" Allestree Lane, Allestree, Derby. Postmarked London NW1, 29th April 1935.Condition Report: The letter is very good; clean and bright for age.The envelope has general discolouration.
A Victorian worked sampler with depiction of Lady Crewe's Free School and the school gate surrounded by a floral border, with a religious poem, stitched by Sarah Cook, aged 14 in 1861, 42 x 31cm, framed and glazed. CONDITION REPORT: Staining to the sampler and general wear comensurate with age. The frame and glass are 19th century but who knows if they are original? The sizes stated are always for the image, NOT the frame.
