A wooden whip rack in the form of a four bar gate, together with a three various crops / whips, a leather hunting horn holder, two holly handled driving whips and a plaited Swaine & Adeney sandwich box in leather case CONDITION REPORTS The whip rack has signs of old woodworm, and has been restrengthened to the back, the smaller crop has no leather tongue, the antler handle is cracked to the base, silver ferule inscribed "EM de Wolf", 1 riding crop has string holding leather tongue in place appears to have been reglued, ferule initialled "MGC", thong has been repaired and is looking as though it is breaking again, the second riding crop - leather is coming away between the shaft and the ferules. All three items have significant wear with age and use. Hunting horn holder - leather strapwork broken to top and restitched to the base, the sandwich tin has knocks, tarnish, pitting, buckles are corroded, leather is scuffed and brittle, strap is loose, hole to bottom corner. Both holly whips - handles distressed, shaft to one has crazing to varnish, both thongs have been repaired. All items have heavy wear.

It is not signed as we understand Mervyn does not sign his pictures Condition in general is good. Very think impasto, paint layer is sound and stable. Some areas of slight surface dirt.
