A LARGE CHINESE BRONZE VASE, XUANDE MARK, 17/18TH CENTURY. Heavily cast of baluster form with flared mouth and twin scroll handles. Decorated to the body with raised cartouches above a band of studs near the foot and band of archaistic dragons on key fret ground at the neck. Raised six-character mark of Xuande to base. 49cm tall. Weight 4240 grams. Handles slightly loose to body. Areas of scratches to body. Slightly misshapen at the rim with slight dent in the foot rim.
A PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY CHINESE CARVED HARDWOOD ARMCHAIRS. The scroll-shaped pierced splats carved with fruit bats and gourds suspended from interlocking scrolls, with Key pattern arms and square section legs and stretchers, bearing character marks to underside, 98cm highOne with both arms loose at joints, both arms with cracks, probably repaired, back is loose at join to arm, one key pattern scroll is cracked and restuck to arm. Overall in dark varnish/stain with some fading/rubbing to seat, some separating at joints and some typical wear and scuffing to extremities. The other chair is sturdier, with more minor separating at the joints, crack and repair to key pattern at arm, small crack and loss to top of one arm, some wear and rubbing to vanished surface at seat, some typical scuffing and scratching to extremities.

The square top inset with red marble, above foliate scroll frieze and pierced key pattern, on claw feet, 42cm square x H47cmOverall in good order. The marble top has some slight surface scratching, otherwise there is some very wear and scuffing to extremities.

Scroll ended with moulded top, carved with fruiting vine and bamboo frieze, H33.5cm x W92cm x D44cmThe top with split and some staining and wear to varnish, some separating at joints of legs and stretchers, some old glued repairs to scroll sides and legs (noticeably to the inner scroll ornament at legs) and joints at legs, one carved fruiting vine frieze is restuck with small losses.

The bearded figure dressed in robes reclining with his right arm raised behind his head on a pillow, holding a scroll with a double gourd bottle at his feet. On a fitted hardwood stand. Jade 9.7cm length. Jade weight 66 grams. Overall good condition with no signs of damage or repair.
A 19TH CENTURY CHINESE LACQUERED AND INLAID DOMED CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER. The cover decorated with women before rockwork, bamboo and trees, with stained bone faces and red lacquer and green stone inlaid clothing, the sides and base lacquered and applied with stones with vignettes of fruit and gilt with insects, within scroll and diaper pattern panels, the interior in red lacquer, 35.5cm diam.Some small areas of retouching to gilding, some areas of repair and retouching to rim of cover, further areas of retouching to lacquer inside and out. Small losses to the inlaid stone and lacquer, some wear to gilding and general surface wear.
A 20TH CENTURY CHINESE CARVED HARDWOOD AND BURR WALNUT CIRCULAR LOW COFFEE-TABLE. With moulded central burr panel to top above carved dragon and cloud frieze, raised on five scroll mythical beast legs joined by X-frame stretchers, on claw and ball feet, 81cm diam. x H38.5cmOne leg cracked and repaired with modern screw, several old repairs, gluing and in-filling to stretchers and around leg joints where some separation has occurred, minor scratching and wear to top and minor surface wear overall.
AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY CHINESE EXPORT BLACK AND GILT LACQUER LETTER RACK. Of shaped rectangular scroll-edged form, with a seven section adjustable rack, decorated with scrolling tendrils, reserved against a ground gilt with fruits, mons and figures in discussion, suspended for hanging, 41.5cm high In good overall order, there is some minor chipping at edges to lacquer and minor wear to gilding, the reverse has been pierced with three holes at a later date for suspension although these do not go all of the way through the back panel. Some minor cracking to black lacquer at reverse.

Mounted in scroll with wood handles. Paper with foxing spots throughout with a few small holes to top section of scroll paper mount.

Raised six-character seal mark of Xuande to base. 27cm tall. Total weight 1880 grams.Slight minor loss or fault to the rim of cover otherwise in good condition with no signs of major damage or repair.

To include a nice dragon dish with flaming pearls amidst clouds with a floral scroll border, with 'jade' mark to base ; Together with one other dish decorated with fisherman in a landscape scene with dragon border. Both mid 19th century. Approx. 24cm diam. (2) Nine dragon dish with three faint hairlines to rim approx. 2cm length with minor glaze chips to rim. The second dish with one 4cm hairline at rim, otherwise in good order.

A CHINESE PALE CELADON PORCELAIN JAR, 19TH CENTURY. Of ovoid form with moulded decoration of two opposing dragons on a leafy scroll ground below a band of ruyi heads covered in a pale green glaze. 21cm tall. One shallow chip to edge of unglazed rim leading into a 1cm hairline to the interior of neck. No other damages and no signs of repair.

A single drawer to the front below a removable tray on four legs with open sides. 90cm wide x 38cm deep x 90cm tall.Minor nicks and scratches to the top and front edge otherwise in good overall condition.

Some crazing to underside where the marks sit. Otherwise good.

Bordered with silk.Huaxin; height: 47 3/4 in x width: 19 1/4 in. Framed; height: 61 1/2 in x width: 28 in.Condition: Wear throughout as shown in the listing image. No major losses or tears. Crease throughout the item, possibly from the glue. Ink has faded as expected from age. Liquid damage throughout; however, the liquid damage did not cause loss. Heavy toning to the sheet and to the huaxin. No glass. The verso could not be inspected due to the nature of how the item is framed.

19th century Chinese Qing dynasty copper handwarmer or footwarmer. A round form with an intricately piercing lid and two handles. Decorated throughout with profuse geometric and foliate scroll work interspersed with lotus flowers.Height: 5 in x diameter: 7 in.Condition: There are a few small dents throughout, mostly on the body of the piece, with the longest measuring around 3/4 of an inch in diameter. There is tarnishing throughout, consistent with age. Scratches throughout consistent with age. Much of the original black lacquer remains, though there are areas where it has worn away. There is evident polish in the recesses areas of the work. The handles move smoothly and do not stick. The lid sits well on the body and can be removed easily. Heavy wear on the interior, consistent with use.
Nearly identical pair of Qing imperial Chinese lacquered Chippendale style chairs.Provenance: Yamanaka & Co., "Art Treasures from the Imperial Palace," January 26 & 27, 1917, Lot 231.The Yamanaka & Company catalog describes the auction as follows:"A collection of palace furniture, being Ch'ien-Lung originals, redecorated at a time of the palace renovation about a half century ago, for the use of the imperial family, the decorations reproducing those of the Ch'ien-Lung time."In the same catalog they describe the chairs as follows:"Pair black lacquer side chairs. Quadrangular seats, legs and braces, with carved scroll skirt and back. Painted in gold on all surfaces with lotus sprays and scrolls, Shou medallions, and bats carrying symbols."Each, height: 41 in x width: 20 in x depth: 17 in.Condition: Both chairs are structurally sound and stable. There are large cracks to the lacquer of the wooden seats to both chairs. Cracking and some areas of peeling to the lacquered layer throughout both chairs. There is one small chip to the seat of one of the chairs. Fading to the gilt decoration throughout both chairs. Wear along the extreme edges of the lower stretcher bars. Wear to the feet consistent with age and use. General wear throughout.

There are minute losses throughout, most noticeably to one of the corners along the top. Dust collected to the recessed area, particularly along the carved skirts. No visible signs of restoration under UV light.

A Chinese copper Hand Warmer, the body of lobed oval form with six panels of decoration depicting buildings within a wooded landscape, raised on a short foot with prick-dot scrolling decoration and recessed base, the removable cover with pierced border of scroll decoration and four flowers, central cartouche with corresponding building and landscape, twin slender stylised bamboo handles, unsigned, in the manner of Pan Xiang-Feng (active 1736-1795), 19cm long, 13cm high, one handle with rudimentary wire repaired hinge. Provenance; Col. R.L Vance RAMC (Indian Medical Service) serving in India and Tibet in the early 20thC, up until the 1930's, by family tradition having received items as personal gifts from grateful patients.
