A good Chinese Wucai 'immortals' bowl Wanli six-character mark within double circles and of the period Of deep rounded form and set on a narrow foot ring, painted in red, green, brown and yellow enamels and underglaze blue with a continuous scene of immortals in a landscape separated by elaborate lanterns, the rim with eight lotus flowers, the foot with classic scrolls, inside decorated with a five-clawed dragon amid clouds within a blue double ring. 15.5cm dia. FOOTNOTE: Wanli wucai decoration, as in the present lot, often imitates the fine doucai colours of the Chenghua period. A similar bowl with identical scroll decoration to the foot ring can be found in the British Museum, ref.PDF.738.
