His most influential contribution to calligraphy was the effort to standardise cursive script, an example of which can be seen in the following scroll. The works of Yu Youren are part of numerous museum collections, most notably those of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (U.S.) and the National Museum of History (Taiwan).The following scroll belonged to Hu Shi Xi, a Chinese dignitary, the chief ambassador of the Republic of China in Canada, as well as an executive chief of embassies in many Spanish-speaking countries: Spain, Cuba, Argentina, Colombia, and others.

A Chinese bronze temple bell / bowl, Qing Dynasty, early 20th century, the hammered body with dark patina, 25 by 15cm, with red lacquered wooden stand, of circular form with four scroll legs, pierced and with gilt highlighted, bears paper label, 21 by 18.5cm, a square cushion, pale green with foliate damask pattern, 26 by 26 by 5cm, and striking gong, with turned red lacquered handle and felt covered end, 3.5 by 24.5cm. A Chinese porcelain dish, Qing Dynasty, late 18th century, with moulded lobed rim, decorated with a central circular reserve in polychromes with a lady and her child in a garden, the child with ruyi shaped sceptre, and in underglaze blue to the borders with flowers, unmarked, 22 by 3.7cm high, a Chinese porcelain plate, early 19th century, decorated centrally in iron red and grey with a scroll and flowers, the borders delicately enamelled in blue with reserves in grey, 22.7cm, and three Chinese blue and white octagonal plates, 20th century, large, 31 by 23cm, and two smaller, 26.5 by 18cm. A FINE QUALITY 18TH/19TH CENTURY CHINESE HORSESHOE BACK SOFTWOOD ARMCHAIR, its back piece finely carved with a scholar resting beside an alter table, the arms with scroll ends, the front frieze carved with formal lotus and key fret, the side friezes with bats and floral sprays, 22.25in wide x 19in deep x 39in high.
