A rare Chinese export plate late 18th century, Ch`ing dynasty, for the Munro clan of Scotland, the top of the plate decorated with an eagle beneath an unfurled scroll bearing the family`s motto `Dread God`, the bottom bears the family crest of an eagles head within a shield, each side has a gilt scalloped cartouche depicting scenes of galleons in the harbour, the central section of the plate features Asiatic pheasants perched upon a branch of flowering Peonies, 9in. (22.8cm.) diameter. * The Munros of Foulis have a unique family tree which covers 1333 to 1746. In more recent times, General Sir Hector Munro of Novar was a soldier who gained fame in India in the 1770s and 1780s. Hector Hugh Munro wrote books under the pseudonym of "Saki" and was killed in the 1914-18 war. Mountaineer Sir Hugh Munro was responsible for creating the list of mountains in Scotland above 3,000 feet which are named after him - the Munros. Jay R Monroe, founder of the Monroe Calculating Machine Company of the USA was one of the first to put mass produced calculating machines on the market in 1919. His son presented one of these machines to the Clan Munro museum in 1982.

Chinese 20th Century Marbled Deep Green Jade Suspended Vase and Cover, the baluster vase featuring a shallow relief foliate design to either side, with stepped square foot and cover. The handles finely carved in the form of horned creatures. The vase supported by a triple link chain and a double dragon bridge. The whole suspended from a natural wooden scroll base and frame, the frame having dragon mouth to top with brass inlaid chasing dragons to base. The Jade hanging 29 cms (11.1/2"") with frame 41 cms (16"").
