20TH CENTURY CHINESE SCHOOL gilt paint and watercolur wash - A Luohan and mythical creatures entitled in Chinese characters 'The Virtuous Subduing the Dragon' with apocryphal red collectors seals, mounted as a scroll, framed, 33.5 x 27cms Auctioneer's Note: the subject depicts a Monk subduing a Dragon daemon which has taken on a human body, the top right red seal reads 'Supreme' and the left hand side reads 'Precious Collection of Xiang Zijing'. Xiang was a famous collector from the late Ming dynasty period but similar seals are often attached to works of art which have never been in his collection.

A Chinese Tang style pottery model of a sow, with painted scroll decoration in russet and outlined in black. 21.5 cm high, 43 cm long. CONDITION REPORT: The sow is in generally very good condition. There is no evidence of any damage or repairs or restoration. There are numerous small scratches and losses to the surface paintwork but this should be clearly visible on our image.

Pair of late 19th/early 20th Century Chinese crackle glazed plates with under glazed decoration depicting birds and insects amongst foliage and having bronze coloured moulded rims. Moulded bronze coloured character mark to the base of each, 30cm diameter approx. Together with a small Chinese under glazed blue decorated shallow dish, decorated with warriors practising in a landscape within a 'C' scroll decorated border. Unmarked. 20cm diameter approx. (3) (B.P. 21% + VAT) Pair of dishes - both are very dirty. Shallow dish - also has no obvious damage but is dirty.

A Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl. A fine-quality porcelain bowl, the pattern in underglaze blue of good colour, featuring chrysanthemum blossoms (the chrysanthemum is the emblem of autumn and also represents friendship and an easy life). The inner rim is further decorated with a trellis border whereas the outer rim has a narrower floral scroll border. There is a seal mark to the recessed base. Diameter 13 cm (5 inches). As is typical with this type of ware of this period, there is some "fritting" and minor "nibbles" to the glaze at the rim edge, but there is no repair or restoration and this bowl has a good ring when tapped. Ming Dynasty, c.1550-1570.Provenance: from the collection of the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton.
A Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl with Mark. The underglaze blue decoration features a peony scroll, the peony representing wealth, love, affection and beauty. Around the mouth is a geometric trellis pattern. To the base is a single Chinese character 'Fok' meaning good luck. Diameter 13.5 cm (5.25 inches). No repair or restoration.
