A pair of Chinese lacquer display cabinets on stands, with all over gilt decoration of landscapes, foliage and clouds, the shaped and stepped open top with pierced galleries and edges, the later stands on scroll feet, the top circa 1900, 52in (132cm) h, 34.5in (89cm) w, 11.25in (28.5cm) d. (2) Applied pierced galleries are detached in places, some pieces present, lacquer minor damages to tops and cracks to back, repairs to stands.
A Chinese two handle covered bowl, the body painted with a garden scene of a lady and a seated gentleman smoking a pipe, spaced by trellis and gilt scroll panels below cell border, conforming cover with peach finial, 11cm high; a similar export ware tea caddy of canted rectangular section painted in iron red with foliate panels within blue linear borders, white metal collar and domed cover, 11cm high. Rare Chinese Ming blue and white bowl decorated on the outside with a border of flying horses and cloud scrolls over birds and fruiting trees, a band of classical scroll around the foot Fu-kuei-chia-chi mark in a square on the base, late 16th century Provenance; This bowl has been sent in for sale by a family with Dutch origins. It has said to have been in their family for generations until its recent discovery by Ewbank Auctioneers. A similar bowl is illustrated on plate 87 "Chinese porcelain from the Ardebil Shrine by J Alexander Pope. h: 6 in.
